Juvenile Club Notes, 16th July 2025

July 16, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

OUR CLUB SUMMER CAMP:
The Austin Stack Club summer camp will take place from Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August. Costas: €50 per head; €80 per family. Registration and payment will take place on arrival on the first morning. All Rockies and friends welcome. Fáilte roimh chách.

PEIL FAOI 6:
(i) Our U6 Summer Academy will continue at 6pm on Thursday (17th July).
(ii) Another outstanding morning of Rock football will take place at 11am on Sunday next…20ú Iúil…in Caherslee. Newcomers always welcome. (Brian Ó Donnchú)

PEIL FAOI 7:
On a hot Friday evening, in Mediterranean conditions, our U7 stars played Finuge in Finuge. Despite the host team having a mixed U7/8 selection, our stalwarts acquitted themselves well when putting their skills, learned at academy sessions, to good use. Well done, lads. Thanks to all involved. (StJohn Hegarty, Adrienne McLoughlin)

PEIL FAOI 8:
Our U8s had more exciting GoGames in our own club field v Ballymac; and both teams played brilliantly!
(ii) Our Academy continues every Thursday at 6pm in Connolly Park.
(ii) Next Sunday’s Academy will take place at 10.55am in Caherslee (only on the LAST Sunday of the month will it take place in the club grounds). All new members welcome….fáilte roimh bhuachaillí nua….just come along if interested! (StJohn Hegarty)

PEIL FAOI 10:
(i) This Wednesday our U10s were scheduled to travel to Castleisland to play Desmonds (at 6.30pm). Maith sibh, a bhuachaillí! Either Football-for-Fun or a Coiste na nÓg game will take place on Wednesdays. Fáilte roimh chách!
(ii) More Football-for-Fun will take place at 10am on Sunday next (20th July) at the annual Milltown/Castlemaine U10 blitz in Milltown. Good luck, boys, and enjoy the outing! (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 12:
(i) More upcoming Central Region League games for our A and B lads! Enjoy the games, boys!

PEIL FAOI 13:
More U13 action next Sunday morning at 11.00am i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. (Jonathan Magnier)

PEIL FAOI 14:
The Central League began for the A boys on Tuesday at 7pm when they challenged Na Mistéalaigh in Ballyseedy. Well done, lads! The B boys have been scheduled to play v Baile an Mhuilinn this Thursday in Connolly Park. Training on Friday evenings and on Sunday mornings (11am) i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. (Jonathan Magnier)

TRÁ LÍ FAOI 14:
Our boys played outstandingly v East Kerry in the final of the Districts’ Championship; they played with great spirit and determination, but, unfortunately, a late Ciarraí Thoir goal meant that we were unlucky to be pipped in the final minutes! These boys will rise again! (Micko Horan)

AN GHAELTACHT:
Our good wishes to Mícheál Ó Cearmada, our U14 player, who is enjoying a wonderful two-week summer break in Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne le cabhair CLG. Tiocfaidh sé abhaile an tseachtain seo chugainn ag é ag spalpadh Gaolainne ar dalladh! Bail ó Dhia air!

PEIL FAOI U16:
(i) Another active week again with our U16 boys! Five players took part and contributed to the club minors’ win in the County League game on Tuesday evening v Na Fianna from South Kerry. Well done, boys!
(ii) Training sessions took place on Tuesday and on Sunday and our expected challenge game v St Finbars of Cork had to be postponed to a later date.
(iii) Our Team A played good football in the County League v Firies (ag baile i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile) on Thursday (17th). Our Division 1B team has a massive home game v Firies in Connolly Park this Thursday evening. Please show your support.
(iv) Our Division 9B team travelled to Listowel on Thursday evening last. It was a glorious evening for football but, unfortunately, we were up against a much stronger Listowel team. We did have an good 2nd half but with numerous missed goal chances; we were very unlucky not to have picked off a few more scores. We now have a big game this week. Our B boys (Division 9B) play on Thursday evening v Milltown in Milltown. Loud and encouraging vocal support would help greatly. (Ger Hobbert)

U14 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD:
The Rock boys, Liam Ó Ciarba, Mícheál Ó Cearmada, Tadhg Ó Luasaigh, Sé Ó Odhráin and Odhrán Ó Riagáin played very well against Clare on Saturday last. Two matches were played in Currans and The Kingdom lads were victorious in both games. Well done to all involved, including Coach Theo Ó Duigín.

U15 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD:
Congratulations to our own Danny Lane and Mark Riordan and to their coach, Richie Conway, who were involved in good victories over Mayo in Galway on Saturday last. (Dan Ahern)

BRISEADH CROÍ:
Our sympathies to Alex Tuohy agus mionúir Chiarraí and to Wayne Quillinan, to Jonathan and the foireann bhainistíochta on their being pipped in their final game of the season v Tír Eoghain. How tough to be defeated by that single point in extra time! They prepared brilliantly, played sportingly and performed professionally. They gave of their very best! What an exciting encounter! Our Kerry minors have given us an exciting season! They’re a great group of Kerry footballers with bright futures ahead of them! We’re so so proud of their heroic efforts. The future of Kerry football is bright!

ÁR MIONÚIR:
The final round of the County League was played on Monday last v Laune Rangers. Well done, lads! Victory means a home semi-final. Wins over Na Fianna and An Léigiún have put both teams level on points on the results’ table. (Andrew Morrissey)

CIARRAÍ:
‘Well done’ to Dylan, Joe, Armin and their county colleagues v Lámh Dhearg Uladh i bPáirc an Chrócaigh Dé Sathairn seo caite! Mighty performances by our Rock lads!

SEANRÁ:
Cad a dhéanfadh mac an chait ach luch a mharú! What would the son of the cat do but kill a mouse! And what would a son of The Rock do but kick football! ‘Tis only natural!

LEAGUE CHAMPIONS:
Congratulations to our senior team on winning the Kerry Credit Union County League (Roinn 1) and on being presented with Sciath an Bhuaiteora. The Sciath/Shield was presented to our captain, Ronan Shanahan, by Terence Houlihan, Kerry Munster Council Delegate. We now look forward to the County Championship faoi chúram Dhara Uí Lúing agus a fhoireann bhainistíochta.
