Here’s a little treat – Kevin O’Carroll has put pen to paper again and come up with a few lines to celebrate his team’s Barrett Cup win. He has also promised to provide www.austinstacks.ie with his own match report (should make for interesting reading) – so we look forward to that. For the moment enjoy Kevin’s ‘Winning Poem – When 13 Beat 15’
When 13 Beat 15
The man on the whistle,
Had been stung by a thistle,
So for most of the hour,
He sent two of ours to the shower.
Begley to Varley,
And Varley to Power,
On the pitch,
Stood thirteen men of honour.
The crowd with a frown,
Half time four points down,
We ran and we chased,
With our heads in their face.
The Waterville bench,
Would not move back an inch,
But with Ger Mannix on call,
Waterville would win no ball.
Three frees from Ciarán,
Had Collie playing on bodhrán,
A goal from Theo Diggin,
And the Rock boys were singin’.
The Ween could be seen,
When thirteen beat fifteen,
Where blood from his nose,
Poured down like a hose.
There’s no dreaming now,
When the ‘C’ team’s in town,
We have the Barrett Cup,
Back home in the Rock Club.
So we’ve had all our training,
There will be no more waining,
Now we have a good reason,
To look forward to next season.
Now that we’ve won,
We find our job done,
So for Seanie, Pop and Kevin,
They’re all in 7th Heaven
