U21 Club Championship
Ballylongford/Asdee/Beale 0-04 Austin Stacks 3-15
On a brutal evening, weatherwise, for football, we progressed to the last 16 of the County Club Championship with an easy victory in round 1 of the competition on this Tuesday evening (31st July) in Ballybunion. Three first half goals in the 1st, 8th and 10th minutes by David Mannix, Shane O’Callaghan and David Mannix again laid the foundation for this victory.We made full use of the favourable wind in that first half to put over eight points as well, while the home side’s only score came from a 21st minute free.
Leading by that 3-8 to 0-1 at half time we didn’t ease up early in the second half adding three more inside the 9th minute with two from play by half time substitute, Kyle Fitzgibbon and one from a free by David Mannix.
Between the 42nd and 45th minutes the home side put over three (two from play) but we finished the game the stronger with four more – two David Mannix frees and one each from play by Kyle Fitzgibbon and Padraig Breen.
Despite the conditions we played some great attacking football with good quick ball into our forwards and some excellent defending as well.
