Go Games U12A
Austin Stacks 5-13 Kerins O’Rahillys 0-08.
Our Under 12’s finished off the Central Board league in style last Monday 11th July in Connolly Park against their great rivals Kerins O’Rahillys. While the score line might suggest an easy win we actually struggled a while for some of the match as Robbie Murphy had to make some great saves in goals. He was ably assisted by new comer to full back Joseph O’Connor who had a great game when he went back to shore up the defence as did Tomas Sheehy. Paudge O’Looney has being one of the players of the year and he did not disappoint, in truth he is the real ‘Mc Coy’. Ciaran O’Reilly did a great job in kerbing their superb mid fielder with David Fitzmaurice, Cain Holden and the impressive Gearoid Sheehan in great form again. Donagh Mc Kivergan is really flying it this year and has improved his skill level on both legs. Hugh Healy had a fine game in defence and he is the one to watch for the future. Michael Linnane continues to dominate most positions he plays in and is improving his right foot all the time. Kiwi Killeen also caught the eye with some lovely scores. Well done guys and keep up the training Fridays and Mondays in Connolly Park at 7.00. Eamonn O’Reilly, Head Coach, is organising a trip to Cork on July 27th with details to follow.
Go Games U12B
Austin Stacks 5-18 Kerins O’Rahillys 2-08.
The real beauty about the ‘Go Games’ is that they are mainly 11 a side and all the children get plenty of game time so both clubs were in a position to field another under 12 team many of which are under 11. Again we had another cracking game between our neighbours and our lads came out on top again. Over all we were the better team on the night and great credit is due to Cian Talbot who had a fine game in goals with some lovely kick outs and quality catches. Our defense was also solid with Ian Dillane, Evan Maher and the mighty Dylan Casey in terrific form. Others who shone on the night were Evan O’Connor, Ronan Foley and the towering Cian Mc Auliffe. Dean O’Connell is lethal when he gets the ball and Alan Dore and Darragh O’Sullivan were fantastic again. Gearoid Fitzgeald is a fine young footballer with a great future ahead of him and Eoin Lynch has played some really intelligent football all year. Simon Drachici is another player who has come on leaps and bounds. Again training is on Mondays and Fridays in Connolly Park at 7.00.
July 17th: U11’s V St. Pats.
Austin Stacks Under 11’s played St Pat’s of Blennerville in another cracking match in Connolly Park and this was a real cracker with Stacks coming out on top by the minimum. Both teams deserved great credit for a wonderful game of football, Jack O’Connor would be delighted with them all! Jack Mc Grath had a great game with the very solid Ian Mc Coy who is having a great season. Dion Moran, Michael Slattery, Dean Scalon and Gary Clifford were excellent. Evan Maher, Conor Higgins and Michael O’Gara also had terrific games. We are looking forward to the last match against Castlegregory on Monday 18th.
July 18th: U11’s V Castlegregory
Austin Stacks 4 – 10 Castlegreory 5- 15
Despite a fantastic second half by our gallant lads we went down to a very strong under 12 team from Castle. We had some great performances from Dylan Casey, Gearoid Sheehan and Simon Drachici. Shane Kelliher showed no effects after his recent trip to France. Michael Slattery is improving all the time and he was ably assisted by Jack Mc Grath and Ian Mc Coy. Evan Maher, David Couchmann and Gary Clifford were really good on the night and Dion Moran and Jordan O’Shea always a threat to the Castle defence. Hugh Healy and Alan Dore tried really hard on the night and it was great to see Odhran Liston back after his long vacation. Jamie Fitzgerald continues to impress as did the teak tough Dean Scanlon. Gearoid Fitzgerald had another fine game for the black and amber. Well done lads. It was great to see all the parents come and support their sons. The coaches really appreciate this. Training again for all on Friday evening at 7.00 in Connolly Park. We have very successfully concluded the Central Board league and over all we were very happy with the style of play form these young fellows. They acquitted themselves very well throughout the whole campaign despite some people who were missing due to holidays. We just need to keep up the training and get ready for our next series again next month. The coaches, Eamonn O’Reilly, Pat ‘Sla’ Slattery, Eamonn Linnane, Jerry Fitzmaurice, Kieran Kelliher and Jim O’Connor are very pleased over all at the lads are progressing. If these lads keep practicing at home there is no reason why we can’t compete with the best in the county.
