Austin Stacks A: 4 11 Laune Rangers 5- 6
The Rockies Under 12’s had another great week with both teams defeating their near neighbours Kerins O’Rahillys on Tuesday night last and another solid pair of matches on Sunday last. While there was some confusion at the end of the match it was confirmed afterwards by the referee that we had just two point to spare in this match last Sunday evening in Connolly Park. The lads were fantastic in the 1st half scoring 4 goals and 7 points with Michael Linnane in particular on fire scoring a brace of goals with goals also coming from Joseph O’Connor and David Fitzmaurice. Unfortunately in the second half we took our eye off the ball and let Laune Rangers get into the game and I suppose overall we just about deserved our win. Robbie Murphy is continuing his good form with another solid performance in goals and is settling in very well in this position. Odhran Liston, Tomas Sheehy, Dylan Casey and Shane Walsh were very assured on the ball throughout the game. Cousins Ciaran O’Reilly and Michael Linnane were terrific in the first half at mid field and David Fitzmaurice, Joseph O’Connor, Harry O’Callaghan, Gearoid Sheehan, Dean O’Connell and Cian Holden were thorns on the Laune Rangers defence at all times. The second half proved more difficult for us as we only registered 4 points, however the lads moved around positions from backs to forwards to see what positions will suit them in the future as the go games request. I believe it’s a great idea that players at this age level move around, and it might unearth a star of the future,by ensuring that each player plays in a position that the player may not have played in before. This system may produce a super, focused, position / skills related pool for us to ensure that The Rockies are going forward as a stronger focused team for every game . Also as we know team comraderie is essential. It is great to see all the parents who support all matches both by presence at Home games AND presence at Away games AND providing lifts to and from games. What joy we can all experience watching a game at this level and our children benefit hugely by the parent’s presence. Well done to all our lads : The panel consisted of: Robbie Murphy, Tomas Sheehy, Dylan Casey, Shane Walsh, Odhran Liston, Ciaran O’Reilly, Michael Linnane, Cian Holden, Dean O’Connell, Joseph O’Connor, David Fitzmaurice, Gearoid Sheehan and Harry O’Callaghan. Some of the lads above were also stars of the under 14 B’s who won their league last Friday night against the Crokes.
Austin Stacks B’S had a very comprehensive win over their Laune Rangers counterparts again held in Connolly Park completing another nice double for the Rock. The panel consisted of David Couchman, Shane Kelliher (back after his bout of sickness), Ronan Foley, Eoin Lynch, Dean Scanlon, Cian Talbot, Ian Mc Coy, Oisin Liston, John Holmes, Kieran Killeen, Donagh Mc Mahon, Evan O’Connor and Ronan Moore. In fairness the boys were terrific and are really going well this year and put up another huge score and conceded only two points which is terrific. The real lesson here is that the lads are very good to train both on Monday and Friday nights and it’s really coming through in the matches. There are many of the lads here capable of playing with the A’s any day lads like Donagh Mc Mahon, Eoin Lynch, Evan O’Connor and John Holmes. Well done lads and keep up the training as Sla is doing a great job with all the other coaches.
