Our Under 12’s continued their great displays on Independence day when three teams headed off from Connolly Park with two going to Dingle and one team to Castlegregory. Our numbers were depleted due to the summer holidays and some of the lads were out due to injury. Over all we had a mixed night with our Under 12’s coming short by two points to Dingle, our under 11’s A had a great victory over Dingle and our under 11’s B’s (mainly 10 year olds) went down to a strong Castlegregory side. All in all we fielded nearly 30 young fellas and they all enjoyed themselves on the night. U11’s

We had another another great display against a quality Dingle side on a breezy summer evening. This team which mainly consists of our under 11’s also had a few younger lads as with holidays and injuries there was a few absentees which couldn’t be helped. Cian McAulliffe, Great defensive display with Donagh McMahon,Man of the match, powerful display in defence (before he headed off with his Mom and Dad Brendan and Mary and sister Ann Marie). Niall Fitzmaurice did well for his 3rd game as sub. Alan Dore played well especially his time in goals. Ronan Foley vastly improved performance after being captain the week before. Evan O Connor gave another great display as attacking half back and Ian Dillane had another improving performance. Dylan Casey was superb from midfield
with Dean O Connell giving an outstanding display in attack. He just needs to work on his left leg and he will be the finished article. ”Kiwi”, Kieran Kileen gave another great display of point taking with Paric Lenane giving a match winning display of 4 goals on his ”b” team debut. Well done lads and training again on Friday at 7 in Connolly Park.

Our under 12’s fell for the first time this year by two points to a well drilled Dingle team last Monday night. The managers felt that we were unlucky that we had a few of the lads away on holidays and also a few out through injury and this may have affected the outcome. However we can’t complain about our result and in fairness these lads will learn from their first defeat in the league. Robbie Murphy played very well in goals and was very unlucky with one of the goals awarded. Some thought the ball was on the line but the referee was happy it was a goal. Our defence played well with Michael Linnane, Ciaran O’Reilly and Eoin Lynch in great form. Donagh Mc Kivergan, Shane Walsh (fresh from his holidays), and the mighty Cian Holden also catching the eye. David Fitzmaurice had his moments with Paudge O’Looney playing really well until he came off injured and this had a big effect on the game. Michael Slattery is another great prospect for us and while Joseph O’Connor traveled and supported his team mates he could not tog out due to a finger injury.Gearoid Sheehan showed his class again with another great performance. Keep up the training lads and we will be back again for the next match.

Our gallant under 11’s had a tough night at the office and were well beaten all round by a nice Castle team. Like the other teams on the night we had a few absentees due to holidays and this certainly affected our performance on the night. The breeze on the night was like a gale and made conditions very difficult for both teams. Gary Clifford tried his best in goals and when he came out the field in the second half had a few nice touches. Simon Drachici was joined by his younger brother Danny who had some lovely touches. Others who tried hard were Evan Maher, Denis Tagney and Ian Mc Coy. Gearoid Fitzgerald and Michael O’Gara worked tirelessly throughout the match and Hugh Healy gets better every match. Dion Moran also had his moments. Again thanks to all the parents who travelled and took some children with them and supported the lads.
