BOBBY MILLER: One of the great names of the Rock passed away peacefully on Wednesday (24th Oct) at the age of 86. As a footballer Bobby Miller first made his name with his schools teams in the mid forties. He was just 15 years old when he played Minor Football with his beloved Stacks in 1947. The following year he was on the Kerry Minor Football team and won three Munster Final medals in 1948, 1949 and 1950. He crowned a wonderful career at Minor level when winning an All Ireland title also in 1950 along with fellow Rockies Kevin Barry, Pa Fitzgerald and Paddy O’Donnell.
After that he played for 10 consecutive seasons (1950-1959) with the Rock Senior Footballers and came close to winning a Co. Championship title in 1952.
When he retired from footballer he kept his close connection with the Rock, residing there all his life and also running a very successful business in Upper Rock St. for many years.
Bobby was predeceased by his wife Mary and son John. We extend sincere sympathy to Maura, Robert, Ann, Aileen and Cathy and to all his extended family and friends.
Funeral Arrangements: Reposing at the Gleasure Funeral Home, Tralee this Sunday Oct 28th 3pm to 5pm. Removal at 5pm to Our Lady & St. Brendan’s Church. Requiem mass will take place on Monday Oct 29th at 11am. Club will provide a guard of honour. May he rest in peace.
