SENIOR FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 1-15; Ballymac 2-7.
In round 3 of the Town League played at Connolly Park last Saturday evening (14th March) we had a five points win against Ballymac.
This was a very satisfying display. We had fifteen scores, all but one from play and just three wides during the sixty five minutes of play.
It was also good to see some former players making a reappearance such as St. John Hegarty and Nessan Crean.
We lead by 1-8 to 0-3 at half time. Half way through the second half we lead by 1-14 to 0-4, but credit the opposition they staged a good come back, scoring 2-3 without reply. Darragh Long sealed a great personal performance with a super point from an acute angle in the 62nd minute.
Team: Martin Moriarty, Pa McCarthy, Denis Costelloe, John Dennis, Gordon Kerins, TJ Hogan (Capt), Tommy Costelloe, Brián Mangan, Gearoid McCann, Denis McElligott, Damien Quirke (1-2), David Clifford (0-2), Fiachna Mangan (0-1), Darragh Long (0-7 – 1 free), Michael Collins (0-3).
Subs: Brian Dennehy (ht), St. John Hegarty (38m), Nessan Crean (41m), David Mannix (45m), Des Fitzgerald (48m).
