It was with great sadness that all in the Club and the local community learned of the death of Tommy O’Connor (Mounthawk Manor and late of Mitchel’s Avenue and St. John’s Park) when news broke on Monday morning (2nd Dec). Tommy, of course, was a member of the Kerry Blues Showband, but he was also very much involved in many Community and Club activities. In particular he was mentor to our B team and to many Juvenile teams in the 80s and 90s and served as Juvenile Chairman for a period during the late 1980s.
His son Edward is today carrying on that tradition (current coach with the Under 12s). Edward was of course also part of the great C teams (as player and coach) in the 90s and early Noughties. We offer sincere sympathy to Tommy’s wife Anne, son Edward, daughters Tracy and Ciara and to all his relatives and friends. Tommy was predeceased by another son, Cecil. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Reposing at his home in Mount Hawk from 3 to 7pm this Wednesday Dec 4th. Requiem mass at 11am on Thursday at Our Lady and St. Brendan’s Church, Tralee. Austin Stacks GAA Club will provide a guard of honour after the 11am mass. May he Rest in Peace.
