The death has taken place in Tralee of Frank O’Keeffe formerly from Lisdara Oakpark. In his playing career with Kerry, Frank O’Keeffe played in seven Championship games between 1946 and 1951. Frank won an All-Ireland SFC medal with Kerry in 1946, lining out in the No 13 jersey when Kerry defeated Roscommon after a replay. He was a member of the Kerry team that lost to Cavan in the 1947 All-Ireland final in the Polo Grounds Final and his death now means that Mick Finucane is the last surviving member of that Kerry team. Frank, who won a County SFC medal with John Mitchels in 1947, was the father of John O’Keeffe, the Kerry star of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He is survived by his sons Maurice, John and Dominick, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brother Brendan, relatives and many friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Reposing at The Gleasure Funeral Home on Thursday from 4.15pm to 6.15pm. Removal at 6.15pm to Our Lady and St. Brendan’s Church. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am. Interment afterwards in The Old Cathedral Cemetery, Ardfert. Donations in lieu of flowers to The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. |
