Austin Stacks Senior Ladies team competed in the All-Ireland Football Seven’s in Malahide Dublin on Saturday 26th September. Winning their first 3 games the team faced St. Bridgets of Limerick in the Quarter final & decrowned the 2014 Champions on a score line of Austin Stacks 5-9 St. Brigids 3-8. O’Toole’s of Dublin provided the opposition in the Semi Final and after a cracking game with a dramatic come back by the Rockettes, Stacks booked their place in the final on a score line of Austin Stacks 4-6 O’Toole’s 3-5. Our opponents in the final were Moycullen of Galway, featuring the Galway inter-county Ward sisters. Our young side can be very proud of their performance which just saw us come up short by 2pts. FT Austin Stacks 5-6 Moycullen 6-5. Well done Ladies on your fantastic achievement in reaching the final of this prestigous tournament. Interesting fact about this team is the family connections – The team had a mother daughter combination (Marina & Caoimhe Barry Walsh) and 3 pairs of sisters Karena & Breda Slattery, Gemma & Ellen O’Connell & Ciara & Laura Rogers.
