Austin Stacks 3-18 Castlegregory 1-1
The scoreline in the division 3 Co. League final played yesterday (Sunday May 15th) at St. Pat’s Blennerville reflected our Senior Ladies entire league campaign. This team carried a 100% winning record into the final and have notched up some serious score lines. Great credit is due to trainer Shane Kelly and his backroom team of Noreen Power, Bernie Mannix and Niamh Collins. Here is Noreen Power’s Match report: The County Senior League Div.3, much awaited, Ladies Final took place on Sunday, with a 12 noon start, at Blennerville between Austin Stacks and Castlegregory. The game began with a barrage of Pts scored by Megan (1) Laura (2) Marina (3) & Ciara (1) Castlegregory were awarded a Penalty for an incident within goal area and scored it. This was followed by a Super Pt from our Rena. A great passing movement up the field gave Megan a clear shot at goal and she duly obliged. This was closely follow by two super Pts from Laura and Rena and we finished the first half with a classy Goal from our demanuative Breda on a scoreline of 2.11 to Castlegregory 1.1. There was no letting up by the Stacks Ladies in the Second Half with again great ball movement scored fab points from Laura (1) Rena (2) Carmel (1). Our super Laura fielded a great ball and headed for Goal which she duly scored in superb style. This was followed by 2 magnificent Pts from Marina and Linda finished the game with a class pt. Final Score Austin Stacks 3.18 to Castlegregory 1.1 Great Football was played by our backs Sarah, Lisa, Claire, Ciara, Rachel and Michelle. Aishling and Laura were magnificent at centre field as were our forwards Breda, Linda, Megan, Gillian, Rena and of course the one and only Marina. Shauna our Goalie on the day proved to be more than competent as usual. The subs Carmel, Emma, Karen, Shannon and Alison who played during the game made a great contribution to our win. Unfortunately we could only play 5 subs so for Amy, Charleen, Charlotte and Grace its roll on the Championship At this stage we all wish to thank our sideline team of Bernie, Niamh,Noreen and super Coach/Trainer Shane & Gordan for all they have done for the Team, to the Club for super food and beverages after game and lastly to all our Supporters on the day. Finally we all at Austin Stacks Club wish a speedy recovery to Sarah Carey who is ill at present and missed out playing in our Final and to Andrea O’Donoghue. Get well soon girls.
