The format is each team will play each other and hopefully their will be a semi final and final. St. Brendan’s v The Town played each other on Friday last and turned out to be a great game with St. Brendan’s Robbie Murphy having another stormer in goals ably assisted by David Fitzmaurice who got some lovely scores, Joseph O’Connor and the talented Michael Slattery. Kieran Killeen is lethal in front of goals as is Dean Scanlon. Others to shine for St Brendan’s were Cian Holden, Simon Drachici and the powerful Dylan Casey. While St Brendan’s, watched by their very experienced Manager Jerry Fitzmaurice ran out comfortable winners in the end ‘The Town’ team gave them a great run for their money. Podge O’Looney was very impressive again as was Gearoid Sheehan, Hugh Healy and Donagh Mc Kivergan. Others who shone for ‘The Town’ were Gary Clifford, Cian Talbot and Dean O’Connell. Evan O’Connor and Jordon O’Shea also stood out for the Town boys. Pat ‘Sla’ Slattery will have his men ready for the next match this coming Friday. The second match of the evening also was a very entertaining match with Caherslee coming out on top on the night. Eamonn Linnane, The Manager was away on a business trip but his boys did not disappoint him at all on the night. Ciaran O’Reilly and Michael Linnane were terrific with John Holmes showing some elegant touches. Donagh Mc Mahon is a class act as are Eoin Lynch and Darragh O’Sullivan. Kieran Kelliher’s men worked really hard as well on the night and showed some real class at times. Shane Walsh led by example as did Shane Kelliher and David Couchmann. Oisin Liston was a revelation when he went into goals. Tomas Sheehy has a great future as a footballer and Jack McGrath had a fine game also but were that little bit under strength on the night. I’m sure Kieran Kelliher will come up with a master plan for the next match which resumes next Friday evening in Connolly Park.
It’s a great sight to see so many children out playing football at this time of the year.
