Stacks U12 & U11’s Shine at Killeen
Na Gaeil U12 1 – 11
While the score line might suggest an easy victory for our lads this game was quite a battle for long periods of the match. We played with the advantage of the wind in the first half and led by 2-11 to 1- 5 at half time. The boys knew at the break that they really had to work hard in the second half and in fairness they did not disappoint. Anyone who was at the match would see that Robbie Murphy is a born goal keeper and kept us in the game with some powerful saves and effective kick outs. Michael Linnane probably had his best game in the Black and Amber as he fielded high and low balls into him. He was ably assisted by Shane Kelliher, Harry O’Callaghan and Donagh Mc Kivergan in defence. Donagh kicked a smashing point with his weak leg in the first half, which was a joy to watch. Around the middle of the pitch you had Joseph O’Connor, Paudge O’Looney and Ciaran O’Reilly who were all excellent and David Fitzmaurice, Gearóid Sheehan, Kieran Killeen with John Holmes having the game of his life chipping in 1 -3. Great credit is due to the lads as they worked their socks off in the second half and got their just reward. Roll on round 3 and well done lads.
Austin Stacks U 11 5- 09
Na Gaeil U 11’s 3-09
Our under 11’s had an equally impressive win over their neighbours notching up another impressive victory. Cian Holden had a mighty game scoring 2 goals and three points and was unlucky with a few more shots that went wide. Cian Talbot played very well in goals and was able assisted by Darragh O’Sullivan, Simon Drachici, Ronan Foley and Ronan Moore. Others to shine were new boy Hugh Healy, Dean O’Connell and Evan O’Connor. Cian Mc Auliffe is a hand-full for any defender and in fairness to Ian Dillane and Alan Dore you can see how the training is bringing them on all the time. Dylan Casey of course is one of key guys in this team with some smart running and clever passes. Donagh Mc Mahon is another really classy player with his lethal left leg and Eoin Lynch gets better match by match. Conor Higgins played really well also. Well done boys and keep up the training both in Connolly Park and at home.
