Senior Ladies Co.League Div 2 Quarter Final:
Austin Stacks 4-13 Kilcummin 2-11.
Played in Connolly Park last Sunday this game was certainly ‘a game of 2 halves’. We trailed by 3 points at half time. An early goal in the 2nd half brought us level but within minutes Kilcummin were awarded a penalty which they duly converted and went on to extend their lead by 3 more well taken points. Backs to the wall with about 20 minutes remaining – great credit must be given to our girls for the manner of their comeback. We finally got a grip at mid-field and digging deep Laura & Karina made great runs into the forward line, where Marina, Linda, Patrize, Megan & the impressive Deirdre McMahon assisted and made the scores. Once the ‘Rockettes’ got in front there was only going to be one winner and they ran out comfortable winners in a game that for a long time was very much in the melting pot. We have now qualified for the Semi-final of Div. 2 V Abbeydorney in Connolly Park at 12 noon this Sunday April 22nd.
