Stacks Ladies Notes 30th September, 2024.

Girls Academy: U6 girls held their final training session (indoors) last Sunday morning. We had a wonderful turnout once more as has been the case every Sunday morning throughout the year. The big numbers testament to the hard work of our wonderful coaching team at this age group who ensure that football training every Sunday morning is a fun morning too. Well done everyone and enjoy the Winter break. Unfortunately, our U8 Girls had to cancel their Go Games V KOR last Sunday morning due to the bad weather – we hope to continue football for another few weeks weather permitting for this age group and also to arrange a small end of year event for the girls.

U12/14 Girls End of Year Trip: We will head to Kenmare this Saturday October 5th, commencing with a visit to the Star Outdoors Centre Kenmare (morning) & in the afternoon attending the Training with the Stars event hosted by Kenmare GAA in aid of St. Francis Special School. Meeting at Connolly Park at 9am on Saturday morning and returning around 5pm.

U14 Girls: North Kerry League U14 Division 7 Final: FT Beale 7-8 Austin Stacks 5-3; Last Sunday night (Sept 29th) our U14B team travelled to Jack Wash Park, Asdee to take on Beale B in the North Kerry final. Having been beaten by Beale twice already this season, we knew that it was going to be a tough game and so it transpired. While battling hard, we found it difficult to get scores in the first half. HT Beale 3-5; AS 0-2. The second half was a different game, playing against the strong wind, the Stacks girls showed exactly what they are made of and went score for score with Beale. The battling qualities and never give up attitude was a joy to watch. The girls showed the pride that they have in wearing the Stacks jersey, outscoring their opponents in the second half.

Special mention to U12 player Emma O’Shea who played her first u14 game and finished the game with 2-0 (and won a penalty). We had 5 U12 players playing.

Congrats to Beale on a deserved win and thanks to the referee for presiding over such a fair and sporting game, and also for his kind words after the game.

Senior Ladies: Our Senior ladies enjoyed a fun night out last Saturday night to mark the conclusion of the 2024 season. While silverware alluded our seniors this year, the team enjoyed a competitive year in both the Donal Curtin Cup and Co. League and reached the QF of this year’s intermediate county championship. It was fantastic to see many of our minors and even a few U16s stepping up to the senior ranks this year and the future bodes well for this particular group if they can keep building on this year’s foundations. The girls trip to Sheffield to compete in St. Vincent’s 7’s also a highlight from the year. Special word of thanks to Anthony & Jemma who looked after the team during the year.
