Stacks Juvenile notes – 31st August

September 3, 2026 By Maurice MacNamara

PEIL FAOI 6:
Great football was played once again in Caherslee. Our U6 Academy boys will have more football fun on Sunday morning next, 6th September. But…but our Thursday football has finished for this year! (N.Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)
PEIL FAOI 8:
Sunday (6th) at 10.50am will be our next session. Have the swallows gone to South Africa yet? (N.Eoin Ó hÉigeartaigh)
AR AIS AR SCOIL:
Good wishes to all our scholars, young and old, as they begin a new and exciting school year. Go n-éirí go geal libh a bhuachaillí! The best years of your lives, a deirtear!
PEIL FAOI 10:
(i) More football fun on Sunday morning next, 6th September, at 10.50am! (ii) The Thursday evening teams…Foireann 1: Darragh Maguire, Donnagh Townsend-Scanlan, Jack Tess, Aidan Clifford, Faylin Carroll, Jamie Moriarty, Daniel Flynn, Fionn Hegarty, Tadhg Ó Sé, Finn Kirby, Evan Hurley; Foireann 2: Conor Long, Ruairí Magnier, Colmán O’Donoghue, James Norton, Hughie Mangan, Cian Griffin, Adam O’Sullivan, George Hill, Jamie Courtney, Evan Lucid, Adam Lata. (iii) The Salthill/Cnoc na Cathrach Club Blitz will take place on Saturday 12th September…just over a week to go! Yes, and we’re really looking forward to being one of the 32 teams from 19 clubs in this 9-aside competition; we’re the only Kerry club taking part. We hope to have two teams in action. Has every player informed management of his intention to travel or not to travel? We’ll hire a bus, boys, (sorry, there’ll be a charge!) and we’ll go north for Galway go luath ar maidin agus beidh an-lá againn! (iv) U10  GoGames: now that we’ve played our 7/8-aside games v Na Crócaigh at their Lewis Road pitch and v An Ráth Mhór in Rathmore we look forward to challenging Ard Fhearta i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. (Colm Ó Mongáin)
CAID FAOI 11/12:
(i) We played An Daingean on Friday and had a brilliant outing. Well done, lads! (ii) We played St Pats on Sunday last and exhibited wonderful football! Exciting times! (Cóilín Ó Tíocháin)
PEIL FAOI 13:
Our U13 boys drew with An Daingean in Round 1 of Phase 2 of the Central League in a very entertaining game with a very very exciting finish! Well done, boys! Great football played! (Jonathan Magnier)
PEIL FAOI 14:
(i) Our U14s are scheduled to play in aghaidh bhuachaillí na Gaeltachta in the Central League final this week. Watch for text, boys, for day, time and venue. Good luck! (ii) Training: see you all, boys, at 11am on Sunday. (iii) The Lee Strand/Denis O’Connor U14 Tournament will take place on Saturday 12th September. Good wishes to our lads and good wishes to the organisers! This is a long-standing, well-run and a well-attended competition. Standards are high and we play the best of Gaelic footballers from top-class clubs. (Jonathan Magnier)
PEIL FAOI 16:
No action until Town League starts! Idir an dá linn, boys, stay well, keep fit and practise your skills regularly! We eagerly await the Town League fixtures.
MIONÚIR:
Our brave minors played v Laune Rangers in the Shield Competition on Thursday last in Killorglin and gave a good account of themselves, as Rock teams generally do! Maith sibh, a leaideanna! An Charraig Abú!
CLUB LOTTO:

Gealach na gCoinleach’ or ‘Gealach an Fhómhair’ or ‘The Harvest Moon.’ Who’ll be watching out, later in the month, for the harvest moon, the lovely full moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox (21st September)? Do you know that ‘coinleach’ is the stubble that’s left after corn/wheat/oats has been cut?
CLUB:
Good luck to our senior footballers v An Ráth Mhór in the club quarter final at 5pm on Saturday in Staid an Ghearaltaigh, Cill Airne. Gach ádh ar Dhara agus a chuid fear! An Charraig Abú!
