Senior Club Championship Rd. 1 Austin Stacks v Templenoe (match report By Tim Slattery)

Austin Stacks opened their Club campaign with an eight point victory Templenoe. Joe O’Connor had Stacks opening point after three minutus,Eoghan Carroll and Armin Heinrich added further points with eight minutes gone. Conor Horan with a two pointer free followed by points from Cian Purcell after a good run and Ronan Carroll from a Michael O’Donnell pass making it a seven point game. Joey Nagle from a tight angle and Ronan Carroll added points before Gavin Crowley had Templenoe’s only score of the half after twenty five minutes. Half Time Austin Stacks 0-9 Templenoe 0-1.

Templenoe were quick out of the blocks in the second half with a two point free from Aidan Crowley and a Pat Spillane point within two minutes of the second half leaving five points between the sides. Ronan Carroll had Stacks back on track with a fine point only for Killian Spillane to kick a two pointer free making it a four point game.

Daniel Kirby and Cian Purcell added points for Stacks making it double scores with ten minutes of the second half gone. Armin Heinrich from a Daniel Kirby pass had his second point of the game but within a minute Gavin Crowley from play had Templenoe’s third two pointer. Killian & Adrian Spillane kicked points leaving three between the sides midway through the half but that was as good as it got for Templenoe who failed to score in the last quarter. Stacks finished strongly with five unanswered points from a Michael O’Donnell mark,Joe O’Connor with his second of the match,Dylan Casey,Michael Tansley forty five,and Ronan Carroll with time up.
