2024 Intermediate Club Championship:

Match Report by Tim Slattery
Mitchels opened the scoring with a point from Alan O’Donoghue and Greg Horan had Stacks level within a minute. Mikey Kelliher with a pointed free and Paddy Lane from a pass by Barry Shanahan made it two points each.
Joe O’Connor had Stacks first goal when he drilled a low shot past the keeper. Paddy lane from a mark and Alan O’Donoghue exchanged points in the 13th minute.
Halfway through the first half Stacks were awarded a penalty when one of the Mitchels backs picked the ball off the ground,Paddy Lane took the penalty but it was saved by Peter Nammock in the Mitchels goals.
Mikey Kelliher from a free had a Mitchels point and then we had two points in a minute from Cian Purcell and Mikey Kelliher to leave the score 1-4 to 0-5 in favour of Stacks.
Then in the 25th minute Jack O’Shea with a point after great through ball from Rolo and within a minute Cian Purcell had our second goal after good work from Donagh making it a six point game.
Conor Horan from a Greg pass had a point and Peter Nammock from a 45 had the last score of the half.
Half Time Austin Stacks 2-6 John Mitchels 0-6
The game had three early points in the second half from Greg Horan after a good run by Jack Morgan and Paddy Lane with Alan O’Donoghue from a free replying for Mitchels.
We had to wait for fourteen minutes for the next score from Conor Hurley and then Jack O’Shea started and finished the move with a great point.
Stacks had three in a row points from Armin Heinrich,Michael O’Donnell and Paddy Lane to leave twelve points between the sides.
Cian Holden had a Mitchels point only for Shane O’Callaghan to kick a fine point on his 50th Championship appearance for the Rockies.
Daniel Kirby and Paddy Lane two of the younger brigade who were making their Championship debut finished the scoring with a point each.

Austin Stacks made it a Hat-trick of wins in this competition having previously won it in 2022 and 2023.
Stacks had a few goal chances early on which went a begging before a Ryan O’Driscoll free and Leon Sweeney had Stacks two points up but back came Rangers with three in a row to go one point up.
We had no score for ten minutes before Stacks reeled off 1-6 without reply the points coming from Gavin Casey,Cormac Bastible,Ryan O’Driscoll from a free,Ronan Carroll,Ben Murphy and Ryan with a goal and a Cormac point just before the interval.
Half Time Austin Stacks 1-8 Laune Rangers 0-3
Stacks had the first three points of the second half from Ronan,Ben and a fine effort from Ryan to put eleven points between the sides.
Ben Murphy had his first goal after good work by Ryan and within a minute Adam O’Neill with a free had Rangers opening point of the half.
Ronan Carroll and Patrick O’Donnell traded points before Ben had his second goal with bullet to the top corner to make it 3-12 to 0-5 in Stacks favour.
Ryan had another point but Tomas Joy pointed two frees for Rangers
Stacks finished strongly with Ryan scoring 2-2 and Colm Evans replying with a Rangers point.

Kerry Senior Ladies All Ireland Final :
Best of luck to Aoife, Darragh and the Kerry Senior Ladies team in the All Ireland Football Final on Sunday. The Final against Galway will take place in Croke Park at 4-15pm and will be shown live in the Austin Stacks GAA Club Bar.
