The deadline to pay your club Membership for 2024 is Sunday March 31st. No player can play after this date if they don’t have their membership paid. Please pay online through the club website austinstacks.ie or through foireann.com. Any queries please contact Bernie on 086 0767415.

Senior Team: County League Division 2 Round 1
Austin Stacks 1-10 Fossa 1-7 Report by Tim Slattery

This was the first-ever meeting between these two teams in the County league.

Fossa opened the scoring on nine minutes with a point from a free by Emmett O’Shea,and within three minutes, Stacks were ahead two pointed frees from Micheal O’Donnell and Donagh McKivergan.

Emmett O’Shea from play had the sides level on the 14th minute,Greg Horan and Barry Shanahan with points made it a two point game for Stacks and just before the interval Kieran O’Sullivan had a Fossa point to leave the minimum between the sides.

Half Time score Austin Stacks 0-4 Fossa 0-3.

Cian O’Shea with a point levelled the scores on the 34th minute and seven minutes later Luke Casey was fouled going through and the referee awarded a penalty which was scored by Adam Curran.

Shane O’Callaghan from a mark,Greg Horan from a pass from Jack O’Shea and David Mannix also from a mark made it a six point game.

Greg Horan with a point from a David Mannix pass and a Conor Horan mark made it an eight point game with six minutes remaining.

Cian O’Shea had a Fossa goal only for Eoghan Carroll to restore Stacks six point lead,Emmett O’Shea with two points and his brother Tadhg with another finished the scoring for Fossa to make it a three point game.

One interesting stat the O’Shea brothers Cian,Emmett and Tadhg scored all bar one point for Fossa 1-6.

The Horan brothers Greg and Conor scored four points for Austin Stacks.

Round 2 next Sunday, March 31st, we welcome Ardfert to Connolly Pk throw in 2 pm.

Senior B Team: County League Division 5A.

Well done to the Senior B Team, who played out a well-deserved draw against Kilgarvan in Round 1 of the County League last Saturday in Connolly Park. Trailing at half time by six points they put in a huge effort and saw the game end with a final score of 2-12 to 2-12. Our two goals came from Ciaran O’Connell and Calvin Foley.

Round 2 is away to Tuosist next Saturday, March 30th, at 4.30pm.

Safeguarding Workshop:
There was a great turnout by coaches across all age groups at the GAA Safeguarding 1 Workshop which was held in Connolly Park on Tuesday, 12th March last. Participation in Safeguarding 1 training is mandatory for all individuals involved in the coaching of children and prioritises the safety of children from the risk of harm while playing our games and participating in our activities. The workshop was facilitated by Colette Murphy, GAA Safeguarding Tutor. The feedback from Colette and the coaches was very positive. Thank you to everyone involved.

Club Cards:

Our card sessions continue in the Clubhouse on Mondays and Thursdays with the starting time of 9 pm sharp.

CLUB LOTTO:
This week’s (25th March ) Jackpot worth €3050 was not won. ‘
The numbers drawn were 11,26,27,30. The €20 winners were Brendan Reidy c/o The Club, Brian Dennehy c/o The Club, Donal Corcoran c/o The Club, Eamonn Heaslip c/o The Club, Patrick Cleary c/o The Club. Next Week’s Jackpot will be worth €3100.

Its Easter weekend so on Sunday night from 8 till late we will have the amazing DJ Francie blasting out the tunes. We also have plenty of live sport this weekend to keep you entertained with the highlights being our Mens Senior A team hosting Ardfert in Round 2 of the County League in Connolly Park at 2pm on Sunday , plus plenty of live Premier League games with Mancester City v Arsenal taking center stage at 4-30pm on Sunday evening.
