2024 Intermediate Club Championship, Quarter Final:
Match Report by Tim Slattery
Stacks qualified for the Semi/final against Glenbeigh/Glencar with a workmanlike performance over a Legion side who battled right to the end.
Stacks opened the scoring on two minutes after Daniel Kirby was fouled in the square and Adam Curran’s kick went in off the upright.
Paddy Lane added a point from an Armin Heinrich pass but Legion had three in a row points from David O’Sullivan two from frees and one from play to leave one point between the sides.
Barry Shanahan and Cian Gammell exchanged points and within a minute Paddy Lane pointed a free after a foul on Fiachna Mangan.
Fiachna had a point from play after an interchange of passes midway through the half to make it a three point game.
Paul O’Sullivan after taking a pass from Greg kicked a great point only for Cian Gammell to kick his second point from play for Legion.
Coming up to the interval we had three frees in a row Darragh Lyne and David O’Sullivan pointed for the away side and Paddy Lane for Stacks after a foul on Greg.

Stacks reeled off two quick points after the interval from Greg Horan and Joe O’Connor.
Peter McCarthy from play had Legion’s first point of the second half on eleven minutes to leave three points between the sides 1-8 to 0-8.
Stacks scored their second goal on seventeen minutes when Paddy Lane applied the finishing touch after a great run by Joe O’Connor.
David O’Sullivan had two Legion points from frees and Joe O’Connor replied for Stacks in a three minute spell to make it a five point game.
Legion finished strongly and had three unanswered points from Substitute Ryan O’Grady one from a free and a David O’Sullivan free his seventh of the game to leave two points between the sides.
