All Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship Semi Final
Austin Stacks will take on Ballinderry Shamrocks in the All Ireland Intermediate Semi Final. The Semi Final is to be played on Saturday January 4th in Glenisk O’Connor Park Tullamore with a throw in time of 1-00pm. Lets hope the famous rockie supporters can make the journey for this All Ireland Semi Final and help our boys make it to Croke Park.

Tralee/St Brendans Championship Final, Austin Stacks 1-11 Ardfert 1-05
Austin Stacks Senior finished the 2024 year with a win in the Tralee/St Brendans Championship Final against Ardfert in Austin Stacks Park on Friday 13th December 2024.
Played in wet and blustery conditions Stacks will be delighted to give game time to a large number of players. However just like in last weeks Munster Final they will be concerned with the number of missed chances especially in the first half where they had a total of 9 wides. Ardfert opened the scoring after just two minutes but this was cancelled out when Darragh O’Brien got his first of the evening from a free. Sean Quilter put the rock ahead shortly after and the lead was doubled when O’Brien kicked his second and first from play just before the quarter hour mark. Two more points from Darragh O’Brien one from play and another free had stacks in complete control and they should have been out of sight but some wasteful shooting. Ardfert got their second point of the game with six minutes left in the half and two minutes later the game was somehow level when Ardfert caught Stacks on the counter attack to find the back of the net. Stacks went back in front when Jordan Kissane scored but the sides went in level as Ardfert pointed with the last attack of the half.
Half Time: Austin Stacks 0-06 Ardfert 1-03
Within a minute of the restart Darragh O’Brien converted a free to put the Stacks back in front and we had to wait ten minutes for the next score which saw Ardfert draw level again. Midway through the second half Stacks scored 1-01 in the space of sixty seconds to give the gap in the score line that they deserved. Firstly Eoghan Carroll kicked over from the left wing before Gearoid Fitzgerald scored a real poachers goal when he crept in at the back post to force the ball home. Ardfert final score of the game came with ten minutes remaining from a free and with Stacks emptying the bench they ran out comfortable winners with points coming from Conor Horan, Jack Murphy and Adam Curran.
Full Time; Austin Stacks 1-11 Ardfert 1-06
Austin Stacks; Ben Quilter, Luke Chester, Colm Browne, Ronan Shanahan, Luke Casey, Adam Curran (0-01), Eoghan Carroll (0-01), Michael O’Donnell, Cian Dillane, Jordan Kissane (0-01), Darragh O’Brien (0-05, 3f), Conor Horan (0-01), Sean Quilter (0-01), Donagh McKivergan, Gearoid Fitzgerald (1-00).
Subs; Barry Shanahan for Michael O’Donnell (Half Time), Jack Murphy (0-01) for Donagh McKivergan (46 mins), Jack Morgan for Jordan Kissane (46 mins) Sean Og Brosnan for Luke Chester (52 mins), David Fitzmaurice for Sean Quilter (56 mins).

1977 All Ireland Senior Semi Final Gallery

Since then Richie Cross the pro for Portlaoise has been in contact to say that they have a large number of great quality images from the game which he has kindly sent to us. Many thanks to Richie and all at Portlaoise for taking care of these images over the years and also for getting in contact with us about them.
