Senior Ladies Div. 2 Co. League Final
Austin Stacks 6-9 (27) Kerins O’Rahillys 4-15 (27).
What a game! Tralee’s finest served up a ‘classic’ in Caherslee this evening in the Div. 2 Co. League final with spectators being treated to no less than 10 goals! Stacks started very brightly and were 2-3 up before Kerins O’Rahillys registered their first score (goal scorers Laura Rogers & Marina Barry Walsh). Playing with a strong breeze the Stacks pressed hard and were 2-7 to 1-5 up at half time. Two early goals by Kerins O’Rahillys in that 2nd half saw the game levelled and Kerins O’Rahillys went on to extend that lead to 5 points before they were pinned back by points from Marina Barry Walsh & Laura Rogers and a Deirdre Mc Mahon (penalty). Kerins O’Rahillys aided by that strong breeze continously pumped high ball into their excellent full-forward Angela O’Mahony who led their charge scoring 3-1 in total. Stacks backs were to the wall in the closing 10 minutes with Kerins O’Rahillys leading by 3 points on 2 occasions but goals from Laura Rogers, Linda Raymond & Marina Barry Walsh kept us in the game and indeed we lead by 2 points with just minutes remaining but two late frees by Kerins O’Rahillys saw the game levelled.
