FÉILE PEILE na nÓG: Matters didn’t fall in our favour at the Derry Féile Peile na nÓg last weekend. Even though we were winners of our group, we were knocked out on ‘scores conceded.’ Here are the very interesting results:
The Rock results: GAME 1…AdeS: 3-8 (17); Ballinascreen 2-4 (10); GAME 2…AdeS: 1-6 (9); Claregalway: 2-3 (9)…a draw; our total scored: 0-26; our total conceded: 0-19.
Claregalway results: GAME 1…Claregalway: 1-4 (7); Ballinascreen 0-6 (6); GAME 2: Claregalway: 2-3 (9); AdeS: 1-6 (9)…a draw; their total scored: 0-16; their total conceded: 0-15.
The verdict (emanating from above results): because we drew our head-to-head match, the tie breaker goes down to ‘overall lowest score conceded’ in the group stage. Claregalway conceded 0-15 in total and qualified for the Cup section. AdeS conceded 0-19 in total and qualified to Shield section. Even though we outscored Claregalway overall by 0-10 (0-26 to 0-16), the official Féile rules simply reward the tightest defence. Bhí drochsheans linn agus mí-ádh! Ar cheart na rialacha a uasdátú?
Ach bhí turas an-mhaith ag meantóirí, ag lucht leanúna agus ag peileadóirí na Carraige. It was a very worthwhile trip and a good experience; and we were among the best footballers in the country. Thanks to everyone. Thanks to all who contributed to the Féile Peile na nÓg Derry trip fund. AN tATHAIR PÁDRAIG: We are sad to hear of the impending departure of Fr Pádraig from St Brendans. His presence as PP uplifted people of the parish. Bhí a chroí inár bparóiste agus, cé gur tógadh ina Chrócach é, thug sé tacaíocht mhaith dár gclub le seacht mbliana déag anuas. Guímid gach rath air i bparóiste na nDeasmhumhach. Bail ó Dhia air.
