Connolly Park Tralee was the place to be on Saturday 13th August, where Austin Stacks hosted U8 and U10 girls teams from Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Cork for a Go-Games Blitz. 22 teams representing 15 clubs:
Kerry teams – Austin Stacks, Kerins O’Rahillys, Churchill, Scartaglin, Annascaul, Duagh, Milltown/Castlemaine, Dingle, Na Gaeil, Ballyduff. Limerick teams: Old Mill, Limerick and Senans, Limerick. Cork: St. Marys, Cork. Clare: West Clare Gaels.
They came by bus, car, bicycle and on foot, with plenty of sun cream and refreshments for the hot day ahead. The venue was very well prepared with gazebos and shelter from the sun.
Under 8’s played on the Nuns Field pitch, the Bishops Field pitch was well utilised and stewarded for parking, and Under 10’s used the main pitch. Games were short at 10 minutes, to give breaks from the sun. No scorekeeping or medals required for this event – they were all winners on the day, and there was lots of fun, friendship and great skills evident amongst the girls and great support from their families and clubs.
Lots of photo ops. and skills chats presented when four of the Kerry Ladies football team, Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh, Mary O’Connell, Aoife Dillane and Danielle O’Leary arrived with their joint Manager, Austin Stacks clubman Darragh Long.
Many thanks to all who participated and helped with the organisation of this huge event. Maith sibh!
