Mitchels Finish Stronger to Win Semi Final

Junior Co. League Semi Final
John Mitchels 0-9; Austin Stacks 0-6.

Despite some good individual performances we didn’t gel that well as a unit in the semi final of the Co. League played at Chamfers on this Friday evening (15th July).  Playing against a stiff enough breeze Mitchels went into an early lead with a pointed free and two from play by the 10th minute.

Our first score came after 15 minutes when Darragh O’Brien pointed from distance after Seanie Power was fouled.

Three minutes later Darragh was on target from play after good work by Padraig Breen and St. John Hegarty.

However we didn’t score again for the rest of the half while Mitchels went on to score three more (two from frees) to leave them ahead by four at the break (0-6 to 0-2).

Early in the second half we were off target with three efforts and then David Clifford clicked into gear with a pointed free and one from play by the 41st minute to reduce the deficit to two.

In the final quarter Darragh O’Brien pointed two more (one from a free) while Mitchels went on to score three which was the margin of victory in the end.

We play St. Pats in Blennerville on Monday evening (18^th July) in round 4 of the Town League. The game starts at 8pm.
