Congratulations to Ballymac winning their first Div1 title,Commiserations to Austin Stacks on a fine sporting game.
Stacks opened the scoring after two minutes with a Ryan O’Driscoll point,followed shorty after with a Mairtin McKivergan equaliser. Stacks hit 1-2 without reply after seven minutes with points from Ryan O’Driscoll,Ronan Carroll and a goal from Cormac Bastible to open up a five point gap on 7 minutes. Ballymac had the next two points from Padraig Reidy and a Jack Joy free but back came Stacks with points from Alex Tuohy and a Ronan Carroll two pointer to make it a six point game midway through the half.
Gearoid Healy and Ronan Carroll exchanged points in the twentieth minute and within four minutes Ballymac had levelled the match with three points from Jack Joy one a two pointer free and a Mairtin McKivergan goal to make it 1-7 apiece. Ronan Carroll with a two pointer free had Stacks back in front only for Mike Quirke with two points to level the match. Stacks finished the half with points from Alex Tuohy and a Ronan Carroll free
to make it a two point game.
Half Time Austin Stacks 1-11 Ballymac 1-9
Jack Joy and Ryan O’Driscoll exchanged points after the interval and with six minutes gone Ballymac levelled the match with points from Gearoid Healy and Jack Joy . Ronan Carroll had Stacks back in front,Eoghan Joy levelled for Ballymac and Cormac Bastible regained the lead for Stacks on fifteen minutes. Mike Quirke with two points in a row had Ballymac in front for the first time in the game and Ciaran O’Connell with Ballymac’s second goal made it a four point game with three minutes left.
Jack Joy with a free which dropped short was fisted to the net by Luke Griffin to make it a seven point game.
Ronan Carroll with his third two pointer reduced the gap to five points and near the finish Jack Joy scored Ballymac’s fourth goal from the penalty spot.
