Our U17 Minor Boys continued their County League Division 1A League on Sunday evening last with a hard-fought home draw in Connolly Park v An Ghaeltacht. An Ghaeltacht started strongly and thanks to an early goal, as well as a few well-taken points from frees, gave a big lead to the visitors. Bhí rith an ráis ag however, buachaillí Chorca Dhuibhne! Our boys tried their best to narrow the gap but our opponents were ruthless in front of goal and left us 0-8 down at half-time….0-3 to 1-8.
We began the second half in a determined manner and put the Gaeltacht kick-out under relentless pressure for the rest of the game. The successful implementation of this tactic ultimately resulted in our dominance in possession and, as a result, our dominance on the scoreboard. We conceded only one further point to Gaeltacht in the second half while our tireless Rockies tagged on 1-6 leaving the final score at 1-9 to 1-9. Comhscór! This was a closely fought contest and the spirited comeback to rescue a draw must be attributed to our team spirit and tireless work ethic in defence and attack.Our next outing will be against An Spá….time and venue to be finalised.
