MINOR A FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 0-7; Dingle 0-11.
On a wet and dismal Saturday afternoon (28th Feb) in Connolly Park our A team lost by four points to a sharper Dingle outfit in the opening game of this season’s Co. League.
With our panel already depleted by a number of injuries we suffered a major blow before the game got underway when Brendan O’Neill twised his ankle in the warm-up and could not start.
Then eight minutes before half time centre forward Nicky O’Connell had to come off with a hamstring injury.
We lead by four points to three at half time. Our scores coming from David Mannix (two frees) and one each from play by David Courtney and Frankie Murphy.
In the second half Dingle added a futher eight points to three for us. David Mannix was again on target with a free with the remaining two from play by David Courtney and Jamie Lowham.
Despite the defeat team mentors Danny Carroll, Ger Mannix and Pat Murphy can be reasonably pleased with the performance and committment shown by the 17 who played.
