MINOR B FOOTBALL: Glenbeigh/Glencar 4-16; Austin Stacks 4-8.
This final game in the Div 5A of the Co. League played in ideal conditions in Caherslee last Friday evening saw a feast of goals and some very impressive performances by players on both sides.
We trailed by 2-6 to 1-2 at half time. Padraig Breen with a goal and a point and Nicky O’Connell with a point were our scorers.
Whatever Team Mentors Colm Mangan and Tim McMahon said or did during the interval break certainly paid dividends as our lads came out like a team inspired. Inside three minutes from the restart we had banged in three goals (two by Nicky O’Connell and one by Padraig Breen) to put us ahead for the first time.
However the Mid Kerry side took control again half way through the half and ended up winners by eight points.
Shane O’Callaghan (2), Nicky O’Connell (2) and one each by Padraig Breen and Jake O’Brien added six more points.
