Girls Academy: U6, U8, U10 Girls – NO FOOTBALL THIS SUNDAY due to Munster Final!! U10 girls travelled to Abbeydorney last Saturday for a Co Board blitz at Abbeydorney, all though short several players the girls gave a good account of themselves and had a great time, this blitz was played with 9 a side, no scores being kept, so all the girls had an equal chance to hone their skills. Hopefully the Co Board will have many more of these blitzes. The academy sends Birthday wishes to Bronagh Kelliher who was 9 on 22nd June, to Catriona Collins who was 15 on 27th June and to Karima Sultan who was 10 on 1st July.
U12 Girls: Our final Co. League action took place last Friday in Connolly Park where we faced Rathmore. Trailing by the minimum at Half Time (2-5 to 2-4) the 2nd half proved to be a very tight affair. Indeed, Stacks were leading by 2 points with 8 minutes left on the clock. But 2 opportunistic goals from Rathmore swung the game in their favour and they closed out the game with some well taken points to claim a Division One Semi final spot – final score Rathmore 5-12 Austin Stacks 5-6. The entire U12 panel can be very proud of their performances throughout the league campaign, their dedication and attitude to every game has been superb. Great credit also goes to their mentors Pat, Denny, Louis and Joan. There are still blitzes to look forward to, and an appearance at the Ladies Munster Final to look forward to so training will continue as usual on Wednesdays at 5pm.
U14 Girls: We played Glenflesk on Monday (June 24th) – at half time Glenflesk led by 2 points 3-3 to Stacks 2-4. What a heart stopping finish we had with the Stacks girls running out winners on a score line of Austin Stacks 6-6 Glenflesk 5-7 and in so doing booking themselves a Div. 1 Semi Final V Rathmore which was played at 7pm on Tuesday July 2nd in Rathmore. Trailing 1-4 to 0-01 at half time the writting looked to be on the wall. A great comeback in the 2nd half saw the game completely turn on it’s head with the Stacks girls running out winners on a scoreline of Austin Stacks 2-4 to Rathmore 1-6. The prize a Div. 1 Co. Final spot V Legion due to be played on July 8th.
U16 Girls: Our next Co. League action see us at home to Spa on July 10th (time tbc).
Senior Ladies: ‘Clash of the Black N’Ambers’ – The Junior ‘A’ Co. Championship draw has been made and will see us play Dr. Crokes at home this Sunday July 7th at 7.30pm with extra time if needed.
