Girls Academy: Well done to our U10 girls who had 3 excellent games against Churchill last Wed evening. Great to see the girls showcasing their skills and having fun at the same time. A big thank you to Churchill for organizing. Hope all our girls are enjoying themselves at this week’s Club Summer Camp. No rest for our U10s though, the girls will play some Go Games in Connolly Park this Sunday morning from 10-11am. U8 Girls Co Blitz will take place on Aug 17th – time & venue TBC
U12 Girls: Training for our U12s continues every Wed and Friday evening. Austin Stacks U12 girls will participate in this year’s Munster LGFA Blitz taking place on Saturday 9th August at St. Patrick’s GAA Club, Limerick.
U13 Girls: The Austin Stacks U13 girls travelled to Listowel last night (Tues July 29th) for their final game of the Billy Kissane Meats North Kerry League, facing a strong Listowel Emmets side in what turned out to be a thrilling and evenly contested encounter. Both teams started brightly, trading scores in a fast-paced and skillful opening half. The sides were evenly matched throughout, going score for score, with neither team able to pull away. At the break, Listowel Emmets held a narrow lead, 5-2 to 5-1.
With the five-goal rule in effect, the second half became a battle of point-taking. Listowel struck first, notching four unanswered points to stretch their lead. But the Stacks girls showed great heart and determination, rallying strongly in the closing stages. Despite their efforts and some near misses, they were narrowly edged out on a final scoreline of 5-8 to 5-7.
Congratulations to Listowel Emmets on the win, and a big thank you to the referee for presiding over a free-flowing and sporting game. Well done to all the players for a fantastic display of football and teamwork, battling right to the end. Thanks to all the parents for your continued support. U14 Girls: Training continues on Wednesday evenings from 5.45pm to 7pm.
U16 Girls: Quilter Insulation U16 Co League Div 2 FT Stacks 4-19 (31) Listowel 8-3 (27). Austin Stacks produced a stunning display of teamwork, grit, and flair as they overcame Listowel Emmets in a high-scoring encounter. Team Sophie Ferriter, Choe O Halloran, Clodagh Cunnane, Roisin Sheehy, Shauna Quigley, Clare Counihan, Mary Gibbons, Kara Kirby, Eimear Dillane, Mya Dennehy, Lauren Lawlor, Aoibhinn Hennessy, Amelie O Sullivan, Penny Costello, Ashleigh Horan, Sophie Pigott, Maria O Connell, Kate O Shea, Moira Butler. In Rd 3 we are home to Abbeydorney this Thursday night at 7.15pm.
Senior Ladies: With only 4 teams in our division of the Corrib Oil Senior League we now find ourselves in a relegation play-off with Abbeydorney on Wed August 5th at 7.30pm. Bons Secour Intermediate Championship kicks off on August 17th with a home game V Firies. Training for our Senior Ladies goes ahead on Wednesday & Friday evenings and Sunday mornings.
G4MNO: We welcomed Ballymac G4MNO to Connolly Park last Friday night and enjoyed a great night of football. Our Weekly training continues every Monday evening from 7-8pm. Plans afoot to host a G4MNO Blitz in Connolly Park on Saturday August 16th – details to follow. New players are very welcome just come along any evening. Austin Stacks G4MNO also this week welcomed the announcement that the team have been selected to play in this year’s National Blitz.
