Girls Academy: Last Sunday we welcomed St. Pat’s Blennerville to Connolly Park for some Go Games. After the games our End of Year Medal presentation took place – even though we’ve a few more weeks to go it was felt that it was best to do presentation while the weather and playing numbers were good. Thanks to Dan Ahern for organising goody bags for all the girls too. Very much appreciated.
More football again this Sunday at 11am in Caherslee. Then on Sunday 24th September we visit Abbeydorney. We plan to arrange further Go Games for the Sundays 1st and 8th October, before we finish.

Wedding Bells: Everyone at Austin Stacks LGFA sends their best wishes to U6 girls coach Brian Phelan and his partner Geraldine who will celebrate their wedding day next weekend.

U15: Co. Championship QF Austin Stacks 4-03 : 3-12 Glenflesk; Well done to our U15 girls on a very good performance against a tough Division 1 side Glenflesk in the Co. Championship QF (away on Tuesday Sept 5th). It was our first time playing together as a group and we had four U12 girls who stepped up to the plate so that we could fulfil the fixture. The girls played their hearts out and the game was in the balance until the final ten minutes. We are very proud of all of them
Senior Ladies: Intermediate Co. Championship Rd 4: Austin Stacks 2-10 Scartaglin 7-8 (Connolly Park Mon September 4th). Austin Stacks lining out without 5 first team starters were always going to find this one a tough assignment and so it transpired. The opening quarter was an even enough affair with just a point separating the sides on the 15min mark Austin Stacks 0-3 Scartaglin 1-1. But then with some deep runs from midfield and clinical finishing Scartaglin hit Stacks for five goals within the remaining 15 minutes of the first half and this game was over as a contest. Scartaglin were sharp throughout and just had too much on the night for the very young Stacks side who to their credit never dropped their heads and indeed can be proud of strong performances from their county players Aoife Dillane, Grace Reidy and the returning Laura Rogers while up front Megan O’Brien & Lucy O’Donnell were their best threats. Top scorers for Scartaglin were Muireann Rahilly and Leah Boyle who both chipped in with 2-1 each. Others to impress for Scart included goalkeeper, Mag Fitzgerald and the mid field duo of Aoife & Denise Dunlea.
Austin Stacks: Chloe Fitzpatrick, Emma Dunigan, Roise O’Donnell, Lilly Collins, Lucy O’Connor (0-1), Aoife Dillane, Mary Moore, Norma O’Connor, Grace Reidy, Deirdre Quigley, Holly O’Brien (0-1), Laura Rogers (0-2), Megan O’Brien (1-2), Lucy O’Donnell (1-2), Saoirse Moriarty (0-2). Subs used: Katie Nagle, Marina Barry Walsh, Sarah Hoare & Aoife O’Connell.

In Rd 5 we were away to Beaufort last Sunday afternoon (Sept 10th). This was a game where we had led throughout and our team can consider themselves most unfortunate to have conceded a very late goal which proved to be the winner for Beaufort. FT Beaufort 3-10 Austin Stacks 1-15
In Rd 6 we will be at home to Rathmore on Sunday Sept 17th.
