Ladies Club News 5th September, 2023.

Girls Academy: Another busy morning in Connolly Park as we welcomed the girls from Churchill for some Go Games last Sunday morning. Well done to the girls. Next Sunday(10th September) we host St Pat’s Blennerville in Connolly Park. Training will be followed by end of year Medal Presentation & fun in club rooms after – we are doing this early while the weather & attendance numbers are still good. Then on Sunday 24th September we visit Abbeydorney. We plan to arrange further Go Games for the Sundays 17th September and 1st and 8th October, before we finish.

U10 Girls: *Save the Date* Saturday 14th October… end of season trip to train with the Kerry Stars in Kenmare. A word of thanks also to all the U10 girls who participated in the mini games V Glenflesk U10s at the half time interval. It was a great opportunity for the girls to showcase their football talent and they didn’t disappoint. Well done girls & thanks to mentors.

U12 End of Year Outing will be on this Sunday Sept 10^th when we head for a fun day out at Splash World in the Maherees. Please reply into Team What’s App group to confirm your daughter’s participation so we can finalise numbers.

U13 Girls: We are looking forward to participating in the Sandra Keane Invitational Tournament this Saturday September 9th – Players asked to be at John Mitchels for 9.30am, competition starting at 10am. This is a 13 a side competition and will be good preparation for the

U13 Co. Championship QF due to be played at home V Ballymac on Sunday September 17th – match time tbc.

U14 Girls: North Kerry Ladies Under 14 Division 1; there are 5 teams: Listowel Emmetts ; Abbeydorney ; Castleisland; Austin Stacks ; Corca Dhuibhne. There will be an Outright winner, Shield Final ; 2 v 3 With Team 2 Having Home Advantage In Final and a Plate Final 4 v 5 With Team 4 Having Home Advantage In Final. Rd 1 is set for Sept 16^th (date tbc) with a home game V Listowel.

U15 Co. Championship: Our U15 County championship QF match is this Tuesday (Sept 5th) away V Glenflesk. Throw in at 6:30pm. Best of luck.

Senior Ladies: Intermediate Co Championship RD3; Congratulations to our Senior Ladies who had a fine win over ISG Kenmare last Monday evening (Aug 28th) FT Austin Stacks 4-15 Kenmare 2-3. Welcome Back Laura: It was great to see our former Kerry Senior player Laura Rogers donning the Black & Amber jersey once more. Laura travelled to Kenmare last Monday night as part of the squad for our Intermediate Co Championship game, coming on as a sub in the 2nd half & showing that she’s lost none of her class by scoring 0-3. Welcome back Laura.

Next up in RD 4 was a home game V Scartaglin which went ahead at 7pm on Monday September 4^th – Match report:

Intermediate Co. Championship Rd 4: Austin Stacks 2-10 Scartaglin 7-8 (Connolly Park Mon September 4th). Austin Stacks lining out without 5 first team starters were always going to find this one a tough assignment and so it transpired. The opening quarter was an even enough affair with just a point separating the sides on the 15min mark Austin Stacks 0-3 Scartaglin 1-1. But then with some deep runs from midfield and clinical finishing Scartaglin hit Stacks for five goals within the remaining 15 minutes of the first half and this game was over as a contest. Scartaglin were sharp throughout and just had too much on the night for the very young Stacks side who to their credit never dropped their heads and indeed can be proud of strong performances from their county players Aoife Dillane, Grace Reidy and the returning Laura Rogers while up front Megan O’Brien & Lucy O’Donnell were their best threats. Top scorers for Scartaglin were Muireann Rahilly and Leah Boyle who both chipped in with 2-1 each. Others to impress for Scart included goalkeeper, Mag Fitzgerald and the mid field duo of Aoife & Denise Dunlea. Stacks will dust themselves down and travel to play Beaufort in Rd 5, while Scartaglin will be at home to MKL Gaels.
