Austin Stacks V Beaufort Monday August 4th (Match report by Niall Lucey) – Our U16 girls enjoyed a very good win last night over Beaufort, we’re 3 from 3 in the Quilter Insulation Co. League. Final score:- AS 3-31 to BF 2-03. The 13-aside match (both teams missing many players) saw a very workmanlike performance by our 13 players. We had only one sub (Sofia) but she was injured and still came along eager to participate! The backs were the first to every ball with Aine, Mary, Shauna, Isabel and Claire giving their all; the midfield pairing of Kara and Aoibhinn left nothing out there and the forward five of Lauren, Ashleigh, Mya, Amelie and Penny were were super in their passing, movement and scoring. In every game so far, we have asked the girls for 100% effort, win, lose or draw. And on each occasion this year, these girls have given their best. That’s enough for us as coaches. A pleasure to see them play so well. Credit to Beaufort, they never gave up and kept fighting till the end typical of their Rockies Manager, Donal McEvoy’s string work ethic.
Scorers:- Penny: 1-18, Amelie: 1-3, Lauren: 1-1, Mya: 0-7, Aisleigh: 0-1, Aoibhinn: 0-1. Our next match is the big one though! All to play for this Thursday Aug 7th away to Killarney Legion at 7pm.
