SENIOR HURLING: Kilgarvan 0-18; Austin Stacks 2-5.
Our Hurlers travelled to Kilgarvan on Wednesday evening (21st June) for round 4 of the Co. League and after a very good first half (we led by two points at the break 2-4 to 0-8) had to give way to a slicker home side in the second period.
A pointed free from Paul Daly opened the scoring in the 5th minute and by the end of the half Paul had put over two more, one each from play and a free. Midfielder, Robert Byrne also added a point and our two goals came in quick succession in the 18th and 20th minutes from Ronan Gilsenan and David Walsh.
Our only score in the second half came from a 36th minute free by Ciarán Breen, good to see Ciarán back making his first appearance of the season. Kilgarvan, on the other hand, added a further ten points during this second half which left them with seven points to spare at the end.
Team: Daniel McGuire, Seán King, Michael O’Leary, Ian Moynihan, Johnny Downey, Eoghan McKivergan, Andrew Morrissey (Capt), Robert Byrne (0-1), Kieran McCaughley, Ciarán Breen (0-1 free), Killian O’Riordan, Paul Daly (0-2 – two frees), Ronan Gilsenan (1-0), David Walsh (1-0), Rory Forbes.
