Juvenile Club Notes, 26th November 2025

November 26, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

PEIL na gCOLÁISTÍ FAOI 19:
(i) A very important game in the Munster U19A Corn Uí Mhuirí Competition between The Green and Mercy Mounthawk was scheduled for Wednesday of this week (26th). The Green boys have already qualified to progress further in the Munster championship but only a victory in this game would ensure that the Mounthawk lads could stay in the competition. Cluiche áitiúil! Coimhlint ghéar! Cogadh na gCairde! The Green CBS Rock players: Oilibhéar Lata, Eoin Ó Mongáin, Fionnán Ó Riain agus Rónán Ó Cearúill. The Mercy Mounthawk Rock players: Adam Mac Eoin, Dáithí Hoibeard, Alex Ó Tuathaigh, Anraí Ó Murchú, Jack Ó Duigín, D.Ó Liatháin, Ben Litchfield.
(ii) The O’Sullivan Cup (Kerry U19 Schools) final was played last week at Fitzgerald Stadium between Tralee CBS and St. Brendan’s College. The result…Tralee CBS: 2-12; St. Brendan’s College: 2-11. Well done, Green boys, on a really great achievement. Ár n-imreoirí ar phainéal na Faiche: Oilibhéar Lata (cúl báire), Eoin Ó Mongáin (ionadaí), Fionnán Ó Riain (5), Rónán Ó Cearúill (lántosach) and Dara Mac Mathúna (ionadaí). The Green joint-captains: Fionnán Ó Riain and Máirtín Mac Iomhargáin. An FhaicheAbú! (T.Mac Mathúna, A.Mhic Lochlainn)

MOUNTHAWK TRUMPS SEM:
Mercy Mounthawk U15 footballers had a fine victory over a gallant St Brendan’s team in last week’s Russell Shield final. It was a fine open flowing game in which some fantastic scores were taken by both sides. The Tralee school emerged victorious on a scoreline of 6-9 to 4-12. Nine Austin Stack Club boys were involved: Harry Maguire, Oran O’Regan, Michael Carmody, Billy Kirby, Shane Carey, Wayne Moyo , Darragh Moriarty, Matthew Murphy and Blake Bowler. B’é Lá na Seabhac é!

Club members and supporters are invited to go along and pray for those Rock people who have gone before us. Requiscant in pace. Aindréas Ó Roideacháin a sheinnfidh an ceol ag an Aifreann.

STAIR:
The Rock is the only club in Kerry to have won senior county championships in both hurling and football; our club won ‘the double’ in 1928 and again 1931. The club has won 13 senior football championships (5 wins up to 1936, 37 barren years and 8 wins from 1973) and 4 senior hurling championships (1928, 1929, 1931, 1932). Austin Stack didn’t play for The Rock.

CONGRATS:
It’s nice to see an Amsterdam hurling team in a Leinster junior final! Could The Rock field a junior hurling team? ‘Well done’ also to our Ballymac neighbours on their reaching a Munster final (junior football). Agus go n-éirí le peileadóirí Chorca Dhuibhne ina gcluiche i gCúige Mumhan (sinsir agus idirmheánach)!
