GACH DEA-GHUÍ:
Tá súil againn go bhfuil gach éinne ag baint taitneamh as an Nollaig. Go raibh síocháin agus grá inár gcroí agus go rabhaimid mór lena chéile. We wish peace and good will to all this Christmas. Santa has definately returned home by now…tired but happy that a job has been well done! We look forward to 2025…..with excitement, with enthusiasm agus le dóchas inár gcroí!
UNDER 7/8/9/10 FOOTBALL:
Our Sunday morning football sessions will take off again on January 12th 2025. That’s only 3 Sundays away! The Rock boys are ready to roll…and rock! The early bird catches the worm!
PEIL FAOI 15:
An exciting afternoon was had by our U15 footballers on Sunday the 25th in the clubhouse. The occasion was a very enjoyable pre-Christmas end of season get-together. The highlight of the occasion was the medal presentation and the making of a few inspiring speeches. Medals were presented for the following successes: U15 County League Division 2 (cup winners), U15 Central League (cup winners) and U15 Town Championship (shield winners). It was indeed a wonderful gathering and the players were delighted to have been given the opportunity to meet and to chat with their fellow panellists. Parents, relatives and friends were pleased. Tráthnóna speisialta ab ea é! Ben Murphy and Paddy Lane, two of our up-and-coming Rock stars, were invited to present the medals….that was special….agus mórbhuíochas leo! Massive thanks must go to our coaching team: Pa Laide, Tim McMahon, Ger Hobbert, Eoghan Ó Gealbháin, Dan Ahern, Ciarán Murphy and Donal Corcoran. We thank them sincerely for all their dedication and hard work. Before the festivities and celebrations ended plans and details of plans for the upcoming season were discussed with players and parents….a very worthwhile chat! The 1st training session for our brave and talented U15s will be held on Monday next (30th of December). Tús maith, leath na hoibre! The mentors’ plan is to hold training sessions on Wednesdays and on Fridays in January and in February. So, boys, keep an eye out for group messages with details. That’s The Rock Club….enthusiasm, díograis, energy, fuinneamh agus fonn oibre!

MÓRLAOCHRA NA CARRAIGE:
We look forward to Saturday 4th January 2025 when our senior footballers will challenge Seamróga Bhaile an Doire, the champions of Ulster, in the All-Ireland semi-final. Good wishes to our senior players as they quietly prepare themselves for this important encounter. An exciting and challenging contest is expected and the ever-reliable and ever-faithful 16th Man will play an important role in the proceedings! The game will take place in Glenisk O’Connor Park, Tullamore, Contae Uíbh Fhailí at 1pm. The Rock will challenge Townland of the Oak Wood. An Charraig Abú!
CORN UÍ MHUIRÍ:
The two great Tralee football schools are ag ullmhú go ciúin for the quarter finals of the Munster Championship (senior college teams). Both their games are expected to be played on January 14th. The Green will challenge The Sem and Mercy Mounthawk will take on Baile an Róistigh. Dhá chluiche spéisiúla!
AN RAIBH ‘FHIOS AGAT? PITCH SIZES:
The Tullamore stadium has a crowd capacity of 18,000 (7,000 seated) which is 2,500 more that our Tralee stadium (15,500), according to hoganstand.com. The same site also informs us that the Glenisk O’Connor Park pitch is exactly the same size as our own Austin Stack Park, viz, 145m x 90m. Both pitches are the same length as Croke Park and Páirc Uí Rinn but are two metres WIDER! Austin Stack Park is a metre longer than Fitzgerald Stadium and eight metres wider! Sin an scéal atá ag hoganstand.com!
AN CLUICHE SCILIÚIL:
Congratulations to former Austin Stack Club and Kerry hurler, Eddie Ó Murchú, who was coach to the Clann Mhuiris camogie players who are now intermediate champions of Ireland. Bhuadar glan ar Áth Eascrach/Cealtra na Gaillimhe!
