The indoor season is now complete. Outdoor training will commence on Sunday March 15th at 11.00am in Caherslee.

FAOI 12: Our Under 12s have returned to training and their sessions will continue on Sundays at 12.00 in Caherslee. Our county league season kicks off on April 14th. We will field an A and a B team throughout ’09.

SCÓR NA bPÁISTÍ: Tralee Board and St. Brendan’s Board will run our first round of Scór na bPáistí on Tuesday next, 10th March, at the Kerins~O’Rahilly Club, @ tosnú @ 7pm. “First place” in each discipline will qualify for the county semi-final which will take place in Mainistir Ó dTórna at 7.30pm on 13th March and the other semi-final will be on 14th March. The county final of Scór na bPáistí (for Primary School Pupils) will take place at 6pm on Saturday 28th March in Gleann Beithe.

FAOI 14: (i) We made our annual trip to the Nemo Rangers’ Club in Cork for their Under 14 blitz on Saturday and Sunday last. Unforeseen circumstances meant we were very depleted on the Saturday but thankfully we were able to avail of the services of Gavin Breen, Anthony Moynihan and newcomer John Nolan who acquitted themselves with distinction throughout the weekend. Following two games on Saturday we took a strengthened outfit to play Macroom on Sunday and ran out easy victors. Captain Conor Jordan was presented with the plate following this great win. Some notable performances came from the impressive James O’Connor throughout the weekend, Shane Greensmith at wing back, four-goal hero Tomas Ziga on Sunday and most improved Adam Barrett. Both Barry Walsh and Tommy Nicholson were injured on Saturday and although they didn’t play on Sunday they should be ceart go leor for the visit of Mounthawk on Friday. Squad: Cillian Comerford, Shane Greensmith, Barry Walsh, Brian Horgan, Tommy Nicholson, John Nolan, Anthony Moynihan, Conor Jordan, Eoghan McKivergan, James Galvin, Breandán Caball, Brendan Duffin, James O’Connor, Mike Lynch, Gavin Breen, Luke Donnelly, Mike O’Donnell, Kyle Fitzgibbon, Tomas Ziga, Adam Barrett. Agus bhain na buachaillí go léir an-taithneamh as an dá thuras go dtí an Chathair Cois Laoi. Buíochas le Tim, Michael agus Brian. (ii) Under 14 training will take place in Connolly Park on Wednesdays and on Fridays…(a game this week)…from 4.30pm ‘til 6pm. As and Bs will train separately. (iii) County league fixtures (A team): round 1 (divison 1) ~ Wednesday 25th March @ 6.30pm; round 2 ~ Saturday 28th March; round 3 ~ Wednesday 1st April ~ Lá na nAmadán! We will also field a B team. (v) County championship: Wednesday 20th May. We’ll be as busy as bees!! See this team in our web site!

FAOI 16: (i) This team continues its preparation for the upcoming Coiste Thrá Lí league with training under the team management of Joe Smith, Seáiní de Paor and Tommy Costello. Many of these boys performed very creditably in their victory over St Pats for the minor bs on Sunday. (ii) County league (roinn 1): round 1 ~ Wednesday 22nd June. (iii) County championship: Wednesday 19th August. (iv) Blitz (7 a-side): May bank holiday (Monday).

COACHING COURSE: Saturday’s hurling and football coaching course in the Mercy Mounthawk School was an outstanding success.

IOMÁNAÍOCHT/ HURLING: Hurling continues as usual next Sunday, 8ú Márta, in The Green School Gym. Times: at 4.30pm for all hurling men. Last week’s INDOOR session was enjoyed by all. Ní fada go mbeimid lasmuigh…ar an bhféar glas…ag luascadh na gcamán agus ag bualadh an leathair!

IOMÁNAÍOCHT FAOI 8, 10 & 12: Coaching for these groups will take off in the next few weeks nuair a bheidh an aimsir níos fearr and when hurleys, times, venue, srl., are sorted out. Things are looking good ag an nóiméad seo!

IDIRLÍON: Our Under 14 stars appear on the web this week…..JUST AS THEY APPEARED @ THE NEMO RANGERs’ TOURNAMENT.

MEMBERSHIP: All players of all ages need to be officially registered to play with The Rock club.

GIRLS’ ACADEMY/ACADAMH NA gCAILÍNÍ: The Academy girls had another fun-filled energetic couple of hours training on Sunday at The Green School gym with various drills and a few games. The Under 6 and Under 8 girls are progressing so well that we have to keep checking their dates of birth as they tend to appear to be far ahead of their age group…praise indeed! Regretably, we lost one of our favourite mentors for a few weeks due to an ankle injury…we all wish Mary B. a speedy recovery…and if anyone has a spare wheelchair we might be able to take it in turns pushing her around. Nára fada go mbeidh sí ar a seanléim arís! The Under10 girls are also progressing very well and this week they even beat some of their own mentors in the drills. They finished training today with some very fast small area games. Tá siad ag fás agus ag forbairt go tapaidh! “Neart,” arsa an dreoilín! The Under 12 girls have new girls joining every week which is great to see and more are always welcome. Due to not having any game last week, the girls had more time this week to play matches which were played in the usual give-it-your-all manner that we have come to expect.

There will be NO TRAINING this Sunday, 8th March, for Under 6, Under 8 or Under 10 girls. These girls are required to attend an introductory meeting at the Clubrooms in Connolly Park where our code of conduct will be outlined and our membership structure explained. Please attend at the following times:- Under 6 Girls @ 11.00am; Under 8 Girls @ 11.40am; Under 10 Girls @ 12.15pm.

The Under 12 girls’ training will commence as usual at 11.00am in The Green School Gym. This will be our final Sunday indoors and, so, let’s have a full turnout, mas é bhur dtoil é. Our outdoor season will commence in Caherslee at 11.00am on Sunday 15th March. Two days later…17ú Márta…we will be participating in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. All members are asked to assemble at 11.30am at Austin Stack Park, John Joe Sheehy Road. Wear your Black and Amber with pride and be ready to make a lot of noise!

P.R.O. COURSE: A special training course for Public Relations Officers will be held in Páirc Aibhistín de Staic on Wednesday next…11th March.

NEW P.R.Os.: New Bord na nÓg PROs are Leona Twiss (cúrsaí peile) and Paidí de Faoite (cúrsaí iománaíochta). Ta siad ag déanamh jab maith…certainly P.White’s stint in Connolly Park put him on the right road!
