ACADAMH NA gCAILÍNÍ: (i) Last Sunday at Cathair Sailí the cailíní an Acadaimh showed once again how much they enjoy their time playing football with Cumann Aibhistín de Staic. This was an extremely hot, sunny bank holiday weekend but over seventy football-mad girls turned up for training. Girls were here celebrating their birthdays! We had one girl from Cork who is happy to train with the Rock while she is away from her own club and once again we were pleased to welcome new girls to the Rockies. The girls ran their hearts out in games, drills, etc. We were ready to take it easy on the girls because of the heat but the girls wanted to train as normal. All water brought by the mentors and bainisteoirí was used up but of course juice was supplied as usual after training. Many thanks to all the girls, parents and of course the mentors for the craic had by all on the day.
(ii) Sunday 7th June: There will be no training for an tAcadamh this Sunday due to the Munster Senior Football Semi-final at Killarney. We will be back on Sunday 14th June….with sore throats from shouting for the Kingdom! We hope that all travelers enjoy their outing. An tAcadamh wishes the whole Kerry team all the best for the game.
(iii) BIRTHDAYS: The Acadamh would like to say “Go raibh lá breithe maith agat” to Aoife Sheehan, 12, and to Aoife O’Carroll, 11, both on Thursday 4th June, to Siobhán Breen, 12, on Saturday 6th June, and to Leanne Hanafin, 11, on Wednesday 10th June. Four great Rockie girls!
MNÁ NA CARRAIGE: A little activity took place again last Sunday. Úna has some very determained ladies in this group….a trait that the younger generation seems to have imbibed…hence…teak tough Rockies! However, Mná na Carraige will rest from their Sunday morning action for a little while but plans are being hatched for another “run”! Fág faoi John G. é!
UNDER 14B: (i) Training for the B boys will take place with Dónal, John and Michael in Connolly Park on Wednesdays and on Fridays from 6pm to 7pm. However, on this Friday, 5ú Meitheamh, they travel to play Ballymacelligott in the Ahane pitch at 6pm.
(ii) On Friday last they challenged Ballymac and, though they were ahead for most of the encounter and looked the better side, they were pipped at the post with a late late goal. They lined out as follows: Claudio Dema; Tommie Flynn, Aidan McQuinn, Breandán Caball; Seán Ó Muirthile, Seán Ó Riain, David Walsh; Ciarán Ó Flannagáin, Brian Hill; Michael Lynch, Timmy Murphy, Sam Nealon; Cian Casey, Craig Corcoran, Jack O’Donnell. UNDER 14A: Some of our Under 14A players are training hard and playing well with the Tralee area team. This district team had a very good victory over Feale Rangers but lost to Ciarraí Thoir. All other A players are encouraged to work on their own to keep their skills in order until A-team training gets going again!
