Our club representatives were Shane Carroll, Johnathon McCoy, David Mannix, George Bastible, Nicky O’Connell, Gary O’Connor, Frankie Murphy and Don Quinn.
OUR GIRLS’ FOOTBALL ACADEMY: Diving across crash mats, chasing tails, kneeling with a football, running along ladders, diving under (yes, under!) hurdles; all in a day’s fun at the Austin Stack Club girl’s football academy. Two hours of non-stop action and craic were had in the Green CBS sports’ hall on Sunday morning. A spectator would have been forgiven for wondering if she was watching a football training session or a training camp for film stunt performers! The indoor season is progressing well with all in attendance giving whole-hearted effort to the challenges posed….no matter how bizarre. From Under 6 to Under 12 the energy levels remain sky high. With only three more weeks of indoor training remaining we are gearing up for a massive turn out for the outdoor season when scheduling arrangements will be less problematic for parents. Indeed all parents who transport their children to training are to be commended and those of you who run shuttle services to two or more sessions are worthy of special mention…and the price of petrol! Not much longer now! Once again we were pleased to see more new girls at training this week…and there is always room for more. It is wonderful to track the progress of each of the groups, not only in terms of their skill and tactical improvements but also in the growing bonds of friendship that have been forged. Even John G. reached new heights this Sunday…..retrieving some of our footballs from the attic space over the stage! fear aclaí gan dabht! Meanwhile, the Men’s and Ladies’ clubs have identified ways of more closely aligning the operations of the boys’ and the girls’ academy structures. Plans are afoot for GAA 125 Celebrations, the St. Patrick’s Day Mass and Parade and the Easter Camp. That’s just for a start! We’ll keep you informed of all events well in advance and, so…ergo…dá bhrí sin, have your pen ready to líon na boscaí on your Stack Club calendar. However, a chara mo chroí, if you are one of the rare people in Tralee without one, there are still some available…don’t be out of step…black’n’amber pictures match any wallpaper! Training at The Green school gym this coming Sunday as usual with Under 6 ~> Under 10 girls at 10am and Under 12 girls at 11am. The Academy would like to wish Caoimhe Barry~Walsh a happy 11th birthday on Friday 27th. and a happy 12th birthday to Ciara McEllistrim on Monday 2nd March. Slán go fóill, a chairde Gael.
