August 29, 2023 By Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 7: (i) We’ll have the best of football, as usual, next Sunday morning (3ú Meán Fómhair) at 11am in Caherslee. (ii) Thursday evening’s football was brill! See you all this Thursday (5.30pm).

AG DUL AR AIS AR SCOIL: Good wishes to all our scholarly players as they face into their first term in school. Enjoy, boys! The best years of your life!

PEIL FAOI 9
: (i) Hoping to see you all on Sunday next (September 3rd), lads. Our Sunday sessions will continue until the end of October. (ii) We had a tremendous morning’s football in Ardfert last Sunday and we played on their lovely new pitch. We’ll invite them in for a challenge game in a few weeks. (iii) Our GoGames have ended but the 5.30pm Thursday session will continue until the end of October. The Bracker Regan Cup competition will be coming up! Great games ahead! (iv) Another important date for the diary is September 30th (Saturday)….we’ll welcome Monaleen from Limerick City. Tá peileadóirí maithe i Móin a’ Lín. (v) Our annual trip to the St Finbarr Club in Cork City for the Canty Cup competition will take place in October. Ní fheadar an mbeidh corn ag ár mbuachaillí ar an tslí abhaile! (Tim McMahon)

ALL-STARS: Plenty action, more warm-up games, lots of skills and challenging ball work. See you all next Sunday (3rd)! Newcomers always welcome. (Cathal O’Shea)

PEIL FAOI 11: (i) More Football-For-Fun at 10.50am next Sunday (3ú Meán Fómhair) in Caherslee. (ii) The U11 Central Region GoGames (A and B)….a great success.

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) The 2023 U13 football season is entering its final few weeks. Training continues on Tuesdays and on Thursdays. It’s great to see the huge number of enthusiastic boys in attendance at our sessions. We have exciting challenges, competitions and tournaments to face in September. An autumn of activity! (ii) Our A Team played Kilcummin in a challenge game on Saturday evening in Connolly Park and a great hour’s entertainment was served up by both teams. Well done, all! (iii) Town League (Division 3): Our B lads are really looking forward to playing their remaining fixtures v the Kerins-O’Rahilly Club and v Ballymac. Great and exciting football is expected! Our boys are well placed to make the final…having had three wins in three games. Well done, men!! (iii) U13 Claregalway Tournament: We are honoured to have been invited to take part in an inaugural U13 tournament in Connacht on Saturday 30th September. That should be a brilliant outing. Further updates and details will be provided nearer the time…so, save the date for a great trip to a small town (1,300 people) that’s situated 11km northeast of the City of the Tribes! (iv) Best wishes to all our boys on their return to school this week, especially to the boys who’ll be starting 1st Year in secondary school. Go n-éirí go geal libh, a leaideanna na Carraige! (Dan Ahern)

CLAREGALWAY: Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe is (officially) a Gaeltacht village on the road between Galway City and Tuam. (No worries….they speak English, too!) It was founded on the banks of the River Clare, hence its name…Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe (the Town on/of the River Clare in Galway). The ruins of a Franciscan Friary and a small Norman castle can still be seen after 850++ years. The club was unsuccessful in two County Senior Hurling Finals in the 1890s and, due to the lack of success, the game declined. The football club was formed in the 1960s. Their footballers won the Intermediate Championship in Galway in 2002 and in 2017. They’re determined to be a force in football….hence this tournament! Handball is also popular i mBaile Chláir na Gaillimhe.

PEIL FAOI 15: (i) ‘Well done’ to our three players who were part of the North Kerry U15 development squad….Alex Touhy, Rory Lynch and Aodhán Horgan….and who now have All-lreland medals. (ii) Training sessions will continue to be held on Wednesday, on Friday and on Sunday. Watch out for the group WhatsApp messages for training plans. With all players back from holidays and from other football team duties we are hoping to get some decent work done before our final run of games this year….full attendance is required and expected, please. So, boys, let’s keep up the hard work….an traenáil, an chomhimirt agus an obair ar na scileanna. An Charraig go deo! (Ger Hobbert)

PEIL FAOI 17
: Good luck to our lads in their preparations for their Minor Club Championship match v Listowel in Listowel on 9th September.

CLUB LOTTO: Please support the businesses of our lotto-sellers: (i) The Burger Shack, Monavalley, (ii) Kirby’s Brogue Inn, The Rock, (iii) Siopa de Barra, An Charraig, (iv) Commane’s Bookshop (PC Books), The Rock, (v) O’Flynn Interiors, The Rock and (vi) Hussey’s Deli and Newsagency, Prince’s Quay.
