COMÓRTAIS CLG: Deadline for the three Seachtain na Gaeilge GAA competitions. (i) Bunscoil: primary school pupils are invited to draw a picture of a GAA hero entitled ‘Mo Laoch CLG’. Have you a favourite GAA player? Tarraing pictiúr agus seol chuig Páirc an Chrócaigh é láithreach. (ii) Meánscoil: secondary school pupils are invited to tell us ‘as Gaeilge’ about their GAA hero – ‘Mo Laoch CLG’ – in less than 300 words. (iii) Crosfhocal: The crossword (open to all) can be found on Google: ‘Crosfhocal Sheachtain na Gaeilge 2021.’ Tá am agat fós! Buaiteoirí: sports packs (including three garments of your choice) sponsored by O’Neills. Send crossword to email@example.com on or before the 26th March. Be sure to include your name and your address (and the name of your school).
PEIL – GACH IMREOIR: Nearly there! We’ll soon be on green grass! Keep up your exercises: (i) kick passes, solos, pick-ups – cos dheas agus cos chlé; (ii) fist passes – lámh dheas agus lámh chlé; (iii) body catches – ard agus íseal; (iv) rith. Nach fiú an tairbhe an trioblóid! Isn’t the benefit worth the trouble?
ZÚMSHEISIÚN FAOI 13: Zoom attendance numbers are still increasing as ‘real’ football time zooms closer! Last week, Eric led the boys through more great drills and skills and imparted some very useful tips and knowledge to them. Míle buíochas, all! It’s very important, boys, that everybody keeps up his own football training, practice and fitness work at home. Ní fada uainn an féar glas i gConnolly! Check for details on the Parents’ WhatsApp Group.
ZÚMSHEISIÚN FAOI 15: We had more great ZOOMing with Eric in the last week. Our Under 15 boys are really working hard on skills, strength and conditioning. Once again, bhí Eric, ár n-eolaí scileanna, nirt (strength) agus aclaithe (conditioning), i bhfeighil na n-imeachtaí agus bhí gach duine an-sásta leis na seisiúin. Our player numbers are up for these sessions and the players are greatly benefitting from them. Leanaigí oraibh, a gharsúna! ! Check for details on the Parents’ WhatsApp Group.
PEIL FAOI 17: Our Black’n’Amber boys in Green’n’Gold are keeping the pressure on themselves in anticipation of good news re returning to outdoor team training.
MNÁ NA CARRAIGE: The Austin Stack Club ladies are appealing to all club members to support them if shopping in Lidl. Ceithre chéim shimplí chun airgead a dhéanamh do chailíní an chlub: (1) download/open the Lidl Plus App, (2) select the Austin Stack LGFA as your chosen club, (3) spend over €30 in-store and scan your Lidl Plus card, (4) collect 6 stamps by Sunday April 11th and submit your card via Lidl Plus. Mórbhuíochas.
FOCLÓIRÍN: Sin agat é! = got it! = bingo! Sin é = that’s it! an pháirc = an gort = the field; téigh ar aghaidh = go forward; craobhchomórtas = championship; an tsraithchomórtas = league; ionad neodrach = neutral venue; dáta oiriúnach = suitable date.
CRANNCHUR AN CHLUB: Club lotto tickets may be purchased at (i) Kirbys’ Brogue Inn, Rock Street, (ii) Husseys’ Deli, Prince’s Quay, (iii) Maguires, Butchers, Caherslee, (iv) Kevin Barry’s Shop, Upper Rock Street, (v) Paudie Commane’s Book Shop, Rock Street, (vi) Terry’s Butcher Shop, Oakpark, (vii) O’Flynn Interiors, Rock Street, The Burger Shack, Monavalley, and (viii) on www.austinstacks.ie.
CÁ BHFUILIMID? Cá bhfuil an club suite? The club is situated in two townlands? The main pitch, the dressing rooms and the clubhouse are in Caherslee (Cathair Sailí/Slí). The new pitches, Páirc an Easpaig and Páirc na mBan Rialta, are in Balloonagh (Balluamhnach/Balúnach). So, we aren’t based in Croogorts (crua+goirt = hard fields)! Check map on www.logainm.ie.
