Juvenile Club Notes 9th May, 2023.

May 9, 2023 By Brian Caball

PEIL FAOI 7: Hi, Under 7s! (i) We hope to see you all for more brilliant football next Sunday morning (14th) in Caherslee at 11am. All new footballers welcome. (ii) Unfortunately, rain was against us last week for the start of our Thursday night football. We’ll try again this week agus, le cúnamh Dé, beidh aimsir mhaith againn! Hoping to see everybody on Thursday at 5.30pm.

PEIL FAOI 9: Our U9s will be in action again on Sunday next (14ú Bealtaine) at 11am. Our young GoGames stars will play v the John Mitchel Club U9s in our opening round of the GoGames on Sunday next (May 14th at 11am) in Connolly Park. Good luck, boys!

PEIL FAOI 10: The U10 Kilmacud Croke Club Tournament took place last weekend and we went on our annual odyssey to Dublin to participate. We had a great time in the metropolis (the mother city). We had a great day of top-class football and it was delightful to have both our teams winning through to their respective finals. We lost one and we won one and had great fun. We must make special mentor of one of our stars, France-based Matisse de Paor, who may be the 1st international player to play a competitive game for the Austin Stack Club. Tré bien, Matesse, agus ardfhear! Thanks to the parents and mentors who escorted the boys and to the Kilmacud Crokes Club for the wonderful hospitality. What a great tournament!

PEIL FAOI 11: (i) Following another very enjoyable GoGames mini-festival on Thursday last, we face into more football this Thursday (11th) at 6pm when we’ll play in three simultaneous matches. Sponsors: Lee Strand. Up The Rock! (ii) And, of course, Football-For-Fun for this group continues at 10.50am every Sunday in Caherslee. Fáilte roimh chách. (Colm Ó Mongáin)

ALL-STARS
: The All-Stars were back in action again last Sunday. The early start to the season has benefited the players as there is a marked improvement in skill and ability. Our numbers continue to increase with new members joining every week and we were delighted to see some old faces too as past members have rejoined the group. Austin Stack Club All-Stars is designed to help neurodivergent children to connect and flourish while playing sports. So if you want your child to increase their social participation, to make friends and to gain in confidence join us next Sunday 14th May at the Austin Stack Club in Connolly Park. (Cathal Ó Sé)

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) Congratulations to Danny Lane, who was part of Kerry Primary Schools team that played Clare at half time in Sunday’s Munster Senior Football final. Well done, Danny! The Rock is proud of you! (ii) The U13 boys have trained well in eager anticipation of the start of Phase 2 of the County League. Tá siad ag tnúth go mór leis na cluichí atá le teacht!
County League fixtures as issued by Rúnaí Choiste na nÓg: Division 1A….
14th May ag 6pm: AdeS A (ag baile) v Legion A;
21st May ag 6pm: Na Mistéalaigh A v AdeS A (as baile);
28th May ag 6pm: AdeS A (ag baile) v Na Gaeil A.
Division 13A….
14th May ag 6pm: AdeS B (ag baile) v Legion B;
21st May ag 6pm: Na Mistéalaigh B v AdeS A (as baile);
28th May ag 6pm: AdeS B (ag baile) v Na Gaeil B.
Best of luck, boys! (Dan Ahern)

FAOI 15
: (i). On Wednesday 3rd May we hosted the undefeated Keel/Listry team in our last round of the Division 1B County League. And what a brilliant encounter it turned out to be! At the end of a tight first half, in a game in which great football was played by both teams, the scoreboard read: AdeS: 0-6; K/L: 0-4. The same exciting concentrated skilful football was exhibited in the second half….great stuff by both teams. Unfortunately, we rued our missed chances as the visitors took the win by just one single solitary point. Final score…AdeS: 1-12; K/L: 2-10. Faraor, ní raibh oiread na fríde idir an dá fhoireann! There were positives in this game….this was undoubtedly our strongest performance so far this year and, most importantly, our young players put in a very good effort.

(ii) We are scheduled face Na Gaeil in the Division 2 semi-final on Wednesday 10th ar an gCillín. Well done, boys, on a great effort and thanks to our faithful supporters. The other semi-final: Ballymac v Killarney Legion in Ballymac.

(iii) On Friday evening last (5th) we travelled to Faha to take part in Division 1 of the Féile football competition. With only 3 teams in this division we were facing two strong opponents….Keel/Listry and Laune Rangers. Unfortunately for us and despite heroic efforts by our stalwarts, we never got going. We suffered two defeats and thus didn’t progress in the competition. Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach!

(iv) U15B team news: following the last round of games in Division 9A of the County League on Sunday morning between Listowel Emmets and Kilcummin the division standings show the Austin Stack Club B team at the top of the table….good news of great joy! Therefore, we proceed to the semi-finals of Division 9. Details of these semi-finals have not been decided yet as all group games in Divisions 9B and 9C have not been completed. Well done boys! Great stuff! (Ger Hobbert)

FAOI 17
: Our minors travelled away to take on Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane in their final round of the Central League on Monday last (8th) and despite their heroic efforts they were pipped by a single point in a great game. Our sympathies to panel and mentors. Well played, lads!! Agus ní fál go haer é….all is not lost as, having won their first two games they may yet make a semi-final! Foireann na Carraige: Steven Conway; Tomás Ó Conaill, Donnacha Horgan (captaen), James Fisher; Ciarán Kavanagh, Pádraig O’Halloran, Seán Heaslip; Fionnán Ryan, David Lucid; Thomas Deregee, Gavin Ó Cathasaigh, Jake O’Connor; Cormac Bastible, Olivier Lata, Jack Barrett; Barry Nagle, Ryan McMahon, Leon O’Connor. (Richie Conway)

CIARRAÍ: (i) Good wishes to the Kerry Minors as they face Cork in the Munster Minor Football Championship (quarter-final) this Thursday (11th) i bPáirc Uí Chaoimh. Gach ádh ar bhuachaillí na Carraige: Ben Murphy, Daniel Kirby, Paddy Lane, Ronan Carroll, Ryan O’Driscoll agus Seán Óg Ó Brosnacháin. (ii) Sympathies to the Kerry senior hurlers v Uíbh Fhailí in their Joe McDonagh Cup competition game. Better luck to them in their important match v Laois on Saturday next (5.30pm) i bPáirc Aibhistín de Staic. (If they beat Laois and if Carlow beat Offaly, they will make the final!) (iii) Our sympathies to our Kerry U20 footballers and especially to Joey Nagle, Armin Heinrich, Michael Tansley and Jordan Kissane v Sligeach….so near and yet so far!! (iv) ‘Well done’ to our own Dylan Ó Cathasaigh and his Kerry senior colleagues in their Munster final victory v Clare.

FAOI 17 ~ SCÓR na nÓG: The 50th All-Ireland of Scór na nÓg took place in the INEC, Killarney, on Saturday last. Four Kerry clubs took part and here are the results: rince foirne – Tipperary; amhránaíocht aonair (solo singing) – Roscommon; aithriseoireacht (recitation) – Tipperary; bailéadghrúpa – KERRY (Gleann Fleisce); nuachleas (sketch) – Roscommon; ceol uirlise (which included Crotta musicians) – Armagh; rince set – KERRY (An Spá); tráth na gceist (which included a Tralee group) – Longford.
