UNDER 15 – COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Congratulations to the Tralee CBS footballers on their Munster U15A Taft Cup competition final victory v Coláiste Choilm, Baile an Chollaigh. They had to battle hard against a determined Cork team and it was Danny Lane’s 55th minute goal that ensured that the The Green dream team was 0-3 ahead at the final whistle….2-7 to 0-10 win. Imríodh an cluiche i Ráth Caola i gContae Luimnigh. The Rock men who were part of the panel: Mark Riordan (3), Danny Lane (13)(1-2), David Ahern, Noah Reidy, Ryan O’Flaherty. UNDER 14/15/16 – CLUB FOOTBALL:
(i) Our U15 boys (born 2010/2011) began their Féile prepartions at the Nemo Rangers Club, Cork, on Saturday last (1st March) at the Mick O’Brien U15 Tournament. Twenty boys and three team mentors set off from Connolly Park in eager anticipation of an enjoyable day of competitive football and good company. Four games were played….against Dunmore East (Waterford), hosts Nemo and fellow Kerry visitors, Killarney Legion and Kilcummin. The boys got plenty of invaluable game time and, for many, their first experience of the ‘new rules’. We were well looked after; snacks and refreshments were provided throughout the day by our generous hosts and, mar bharr ar an bhflaithiúlacht, a hot meal was put before us to fill the bellies before hitting the road home….agus ba bhlasta an bia é!! Bhíomar chomh sásta le Diúic ag bordáil ár mbus ag deireadh an lae! We are very grateful for the medical assistance provided by the Nemo Rangers Club mentors to one of our players; a special thanks to the Nemo Club member who was the doctor who attended our player and who arranged the referral to the nearby VHI Clinic where our player was well looked after; and, very importantly, he was back in time for the grub and bus home with the boys. ‘Well don’ to Nemo on running another excellent tournament. Opportunities of events like these are worth a month of training sessions, especially as this year our U15 squad is split/divided between the U14 and U16 age groups. Thanks to Powers Travel; and thanks to our driver, Ciarán, for the extra ‘ambulance’ trips over and back to and from the VHI Clinic. Finally, the boys were excellent ambassadors for Austin Stack Club and it was a pleasure to be in their company throughout the day. What a lovely group of Rock youngsters! Best of luck to them in their U14 and U16 football and we will come together again as an U15 panel in the next few weeks. Lá dár saol a bhí ann! An Charraig go deo!

(ii) Some of the U16 boys (born in 2009) train with The Rock minor panel….Ben Litchfield, David Hobbert, Haulie Cotter, Jack Delaney, Nathan O’Connor and Oran O’Donoghue.
(iii) Good wishes to our boys who are on county development squads. (a) Conor O’Regan does goalkeeping duties with the Kerry Minor squad. (b) Eoin Mangan, Harry Murphy and Conor O’Regan are working with the U16 North Kerry development squad. (c) The U15 North Kerry development squad has Danny Lane, Mark Riordan and Jayden O’Dowd involved. Busy times for the U16s!

UNDER 17A – COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

UNDER 19A – COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Only heartbreak for a brave Mercy Mounthawk team in the Under 19 All-Ireland semi-final encounter v Coláiste Phádraig, Maghera, on Saturday last. They gave of their best, they fought courageously to the end and were doing fairly well until an unfortunate goal was scored by the Northerners agus b’shin buille maraithe na muice! Our sympathies to all involved and especially to our own Rock boys….James Fisher, Pádraig O’Halloran, Gavin Casey, Daniel Kirby, Ben Murphy, Alex Tuohy, Cormac Bastible, Paddy Lane, David Lucid, Harry Murphy, Leon O’Connor-Sweeney and Steven Conway. They trained hard, gave great commitment throughout the playing season and were totally dedicated to the cause of the Green‘n’Black. These young men have formed life friendships, have put their school on the GAA college sporting map and have given great enjoyment to their followers, friends and families. Bheadh peileadóirí Chnoc an tSeabhaic molta dá mbeimis inár dtost!
