PEIL FAOI 14:
Both our Bs, having had a bye, and our As, having defeated Finuge in a very hard-fought battle to maintain their 100% record, faced the might of our K-O’R neighbours agus bhí dhá bhua mhaithe acu in their County League games. Well done to the young men of The Rock who are maintaining their strong positions in the league! Training continues on Friday evenings at 7pm and on Sunday[P1] mornings at 11.00am i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. It is to be noted that big numbers of boys are working very hard on the training field! Keep up the good form! Maith sibh, a leaideanna! Sea, tá sé fíor (true) nach mbíonn bua (victory) gan dua (effort)! Our A side made the long 50 mile trip to Ballinskelligs (Baile ‘n Sceilg) on Tueday (29th April) in the last round proper of the County League. Well done, lads and mentors; it’s good to know that a place in the knock out phase has been secured and that the hard work and great effort is paying off! Our brave Bs had a bye this week. PEIL FAOI 16:
It was yet another busy week for the U16 group! Early on bank holiday Monday we hosted Ballymac in a Division 5 Central League fixture. It was a good competitive game throughout and there were some strong performances by our lads. Unfortunately, a late surge by Ballymac saw them take the win.
(ii) Five of our U16 players contributed significantly to the minor team’s winning performance out in Churchill on Monday evening in the Central Region Division 2 semi-final.
(iii) We had a great training session on Tuesday evening with good numbers in attendance and it was great to see some of our long-term injured lads making a return to full training. Great spirit among these boys!
(iv) On Thursday evening (24th) we travelled to Killorglin-by-The-Laune for our Central Region Division 1 game v Laune Rangers. Weatherwise it was not the best evening for football but our boys put in a massive performance and came away with a good win. Yes, there were strong performances across the squad and that is very encouraging. (v) We also had training on Sunday morning in preparation for another busy week and on Monday last (8th) we travelled to Killeen to challenge our neighbours and rivals, Na Gaeil, in Division 5 of the Central League. Well played, boys!
