LÁ ‘LE BRÍDE:
Beannachtaí na Féile Bríde ar chách. Happy St Bridget’s Day to all.
UNDER 6/7/8 FOOTBALL:
Our junior academy football in Mercy Mounthawk School Hall is really flying! Parents are urged to bring their boys along to the Mercy Mounthawk Hall on Sunday next (February 2nd). The club’s 5th outing of ’25 will be held at 10am for the UNDER 6 boys (born 2019/20) and at 11am for the UNDER 8 boys (born 2017/18). Beginners will always be welcome. Fáilte roimh chách.
UNDER 10 FOOTBALL:
Calling all UNDER 10 boys! Are you all ready for your season’s football action. The U10 Rock Club football fun began in The Green CBS HALL on Sunday last at 11.00am. We had a good turn out and we are hoping for an even bigger crowd on Sunday next (February 9th). Let’s keep motoring on!
UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
Calling all UNDER 12 boys! Having begun our training season with a really good indoor session at The Green Hall last week, we announce to all and sundry that next Sunday February 2nd is our first day of Astro Action for all the U12 boys of The Street of Champions! Venue: The Green CBS ASTRO….that’ll be exciting! We look forward to seeing a big huge turn out of future Rock greats! We wish a speedy recovery to our top man, Donagh Hogan; beidh sé ar an taobhlíne ar feadh cúpla seachtain le barraicín (méar choise) briste. Tá súil againn nach fada go mbeidh sé ar a sheanléim arís!
FAOI 15:
(i) The Green CBS played against St. Brendan’s College, Killarney, in Caherslee on the 22nd in the quarter final of the Corn an Bhráthar Colm Taft competition (Munster U15A football). (When the sides met in the 2024 final of the Russell Cup in October, The Sem scored an injury time goal to win by the minimum…heartbreak for The Green!) In this latest encounter, The Green won by 0-3 after extra time. Tralee CBS: 1-18; St. Brendan’s Killarney: 0-18. Austin Stack Club players on The Green panel: Mark Riordan (3), Danny Lane (13), David Ahern, Noah Reidy, Ryan O’Flaherty. Dale Counihan is joint manager of the team and Damien McLoughlin is team physio. Well done, all! An sean-namhaid cloíte an uair seo! The Green’s next encounter is v ISK and has been scheduled for this Wednesday, 5ú Feabhra, at Tralee CBS (1.30pm). Victory means a final game! Up The Green!
(ii) The Green U15 HURLERS have also been scheduled for this Wednesday, 5ú Feabhra. Go n-éirí go geal le lucht na gcamán!
PEIL FAOI 16:
Unfortunately, due to storms and general bad weather our group training was somewhat curtailed in recent times. We did get our S&S session in on Wednesday evening in The Green CBS. We encourage players to complete individual sessions at home and to follow the training plans with which they have been provided. Our boys are still being reminded of the importance of studying and thinking about the new rules so that when competition time comes round every player will have a good understanding of what to do and what not to do! We look forward to putting the rules into practice ar pháirc na himeartha. Cleachtadh a dhéanann máistreacht! Training sessions are planned for the week again….Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. We hope that the weather will be kind and that all our planned sessions will take place. JUVENILE AGM: A very successful Cruinniú Cinn Bhliana took place at the clubhouse on Tuesday last (21s). A good gathering of mentors and parents attended. Several important topics pertaining to the running of our juvenile section and to the good coaching of our young members were discussed. The club officers for 2025 were chosen: chairman: Richie Conway; vice-chairman: Éamonn Heaslip; secretary and registrar: Colm Mangan; Coiste na nÓg and Tralee Town Board delegate: John Slattery; coaching officer: Tim McMahon; children’s officer: Orlaith Ní Ghrífín; Scór officer: Carmel Quilter.
PEIL FAOI 19:
Tralee’s Mercy Mounthawk, with lots of Rock boys on board, gained a place in the Munster Championship (Corn Uí Mhuirí) final with a fine victory over Hamilton High, Droichead na Bandan, on Saturday last (25th) in Mallow. They’ll face Coláiste Naomh Bréanainn, Cill Airne, in the final on Saturday February 8th. A game worth seeing! The Sem boys are hoping to win a 25th Munster crown; the Mounthawk lads are going for a second. All Tralee should attend to witness a great game of Gaelic and to encourage the Black‘n’Greens! Good luck to The Rock lads on the panel: James Ó Bradáin, Pádraig Ó hAllmharáin, Gavin Ó Cathasaigh, Daniel Ó Ciarba, Ben Ó Murchú, Alex Ó Tuathaigh, Cormac de Bastábla and Paidí Ó Laighin. Cnoc an tSeabhaic Abú!
IOMÁNAÍOCHT:
(i) The Dr Harty Cup competition final (Munster U19 A hurling) will take place in Mallow on Saturday next between St Flannan’s College and Thurles CBS. We note that Tralee CBS gave a very good account of themselves when playing both colleges in the earlier rounds of this competition! Entering the A competition was a brave and bold step for Kerry college hurling!
(ii) And former Kerry senior hurler, Fionán Mackessy, has made his debut with the Kilkenny hurlers agus níl sé in áit na leathphingine! Dea-scéal iománaíochta eile!
EVERY STEP COUNTS:
The Every Step Counts Walk continues on Mondays….is fiú é! The walks take place from The Clubhouse at 7.30pm and will continue until February 12th. Bíonn an chosmhuintir ag siúl go haclaí, céim ar chéim. Never too late to join! SEANRÁ:
Ní mar a shíltear a bhítear! Things aren’t always as they seem! Things don’t always end as we’d like!

SENIOR AGM:
Our (senior) club AGM will take place at the clubhouse on Sunday 9th February at 1pm….one week from Sunday. Everyone is encouraged to come along to support club workers and players and, maybe, even join in and help a little. A great club needs a great guiding team. Fáilte roimh chách. Why not come along to a training session and see how it goes!
