UNDER 13 boys….this Friday evening (1st March) at The Green School. (Micko Horan)

CONFIRMATION:
Best wishes to all our players who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation around this time/time.

SCÓR:
(i) The good news is that The Rock will be represented in Senior Scór this year! The county final of Scór na Sinsear will take place on Friday 22nd March. Well done, Aoife and Carmel. Our Oifigeach Cultúir is Carmel Quilter-O’Neill. Dates for the Tralee area (1st round) have yet to be decided.
(ii) The other good news is that The Rock was represented in Scór na bPáistí this year! We had two musicians involved. Sarah Broughton represented the ladies’ section of the club agus sheinn sí an consairtín. Michael Broughton represented the male side of the club agus sheinn sé an fhidil. Bhí a gcéad bhabhta ar siúl Dé Máirt seo caite (27ú). Well done, Sarah and Michael! All district winners will go straight into the newly structured county final. The county final of Scór na bPáistí (primary school pupils) will be held on Saturday 23rd March.
(iii) Scór na nÓg (U17) will take place later in the year.

UNDER 15s in the CLUB GYM:
(i) Training sessions were held on Tuesday (MTU outdoor) and Thursday (Club gym) evenings this week.
(ii) 20 boys and 4 coaches had an early start on Saturday morning last! They took a little trip cois Laoi…to the Rebel County’s Nemo Rangers Club for the annual Mike O’Brien U15 Football Tournament. How did we fare? We had a narrow loss in our opening game v the hosts. A good performance in our 2nd game ensured that we took the win against Ballymac. This put us into the Division 2 final v Mallow. This was a tough game in which our brave boys had to dig deep, had to show all their Black‘n’Amber spirit, had to stick with the task on hand and do their brilliant best! And, thankfully, they took the win. Well done, boys! The hospitality by the host club was excellent. We were well fed and watered before the final presentation of silverware to the winning teams. Eoin Mangan did the captain’s duty and proudly went up to receive the Division 2 winners’ plaque. Hopefully, this is the first of many successful days for the Black ‘n’Ambers this season.
(iii) Training continues this week, watch out for group messages. Full attendance is now required and expected as we prepare for the competition season ahead. Well done, all!
(iv) Our U15s have been drawn in Group 1A of the County League. They are looking forward to facing Keel/Listry, Kilcummin, Laune Rangers and Na Gaeil. Mouth-watering games ahead…dúshláin mhóra romhainn amach..our boys will be ready!! (Ger Hobbert)

MINOR FOOTBALL:

Our U17 minor boys continued their Keane’s SuperValu County League Division 1A League campaign with a hard-fought away victory over Killarney Legion on Saturday afternoon last. Legion started strongly and an early goal gave them a slight lead. Our boys responded well and narrowed the gap to one point as the clock brought us closer to the break. However, an unfortunate defensive mix-up led to another Legion goal and, regrettably, that had us 0-4 down at half-time. Scór leathama….Legion 2-4; AdeS: 0-6. We began the second half in a very determined and steely Rock-like manner and put the Legion kick out under relentless pressure for the rest of the game. That tactic worked well and resulted in our dominance in possession and, ultimately, on the scoreboard. We conceded only two further points to Legion in the second half while our tireless Rockies tagged on 1-7 and that left us 0-4 ahead ag séideadh deireanach fheadóg an réiteora. Killarney Legion: 2-6; AdeS: 1-13. This was a closely fought contest and the win must be attributed to our team spirit and tireless work ethic in both defence and attack. Well done, boys of The Rock! A great start to the league….tosach maith, leath na hoibre!
Our next match will be against Listowel Emmets and we’ll play away on Saturday next, March 2nd, at 3pm. Good luck, lads! Foireann bhuacach na Carraige: Olivier Lata; Adam Johnston, Tomás O’Connell, Max Maszorek; Liam O’Connell, Fionnán Ryan, Jayden Moriarty; Gavin Casey, Alex Touhy; Cormac Bastible, Ronan Carroll, Jack Diggins; Leon Sweeney, Ryan O’Driscoll, Rory Lynch; Jake Carmody, Rian Walsh, Jack Shanahan. Management team: Theo Diggins, David Courtney, Ronan Kavanagh, Liam Lynch, Frankie Murphy, Morgan O’Connell.
Division 1A teams…Na Stacaigh A, An Léigiún, An Ghaeltacht, Lios Tuathail, An Ráth Mhór, Spá Chill Airne.
Team B:…‘well done’ to our B lads who played their opening game last week v Killarney Legion B in Caherslee. Division 8 teams: Na Stacaigh B, Neidín B, Léigiún B, Cill Choimín B, Lios Tuathail B. (Morgan O’Connell).
