Juvenile Club Notes, 25th June 2025

June 25, 2025 By Tommy Naughton

Compiled by Brian Caball

UNDER 6 BOYS’ PARENTS/GUARDIANS/COACHES:
Calling all interested parties! A new nursery coaching workshop for parents/guardians/coaches of 4-6 year olds is taking place in our club meeting room (upstairs next to gym) this Thursday (26th June). The workshop is being facilitated by Lorcán Ó Máirtín, GDA, and practical and theoretical information on the coaching of our tiny tots will be given. Am: 7.30pm go 8.30pm. Costas: no charge.

PEIL FAOI 6:

PEIL FAOI 7/8:
(i) Our Academy continues every Thursday at 6pm in Connolly Park.
(ii) Next Sunday’s Academy will take place at 10.55am in CONNOLLY PARK (as it’s the LAST Sunday of the month). All new members welcome….fáilte roimh bhuachaillí nua….just come along if interested! (StJohn Hegarty)

PEIL FAOI 10:
(i) More Football-for-Fun at 10.50am on Sunday next (29th June) in Caherslee.
(ii) Either Football-for-Fun or a Coiste na nÓg game will take place on Wednesday (25ú Meitheamh) in Connolly Park at 6.40pm. Fáilte roimh chách! (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 12:
(i) What an exciting outing our U12s had at the Naas Tournament; they played the best of football against the best of players! The B Team won the ‘Plate’ and the As were pipped in the ‘Shield’ final. All The Rock contingent had a most enjoyable day on the Plains of Kildare where football fever is high because of their upcoming Tailteann Cup final v Limerick. Our boys returned home tired, satisfied and happy! A worthwhile trip for players and mentors! Lá dá saol!
(ii) Our first important game in the Central Region League (Division 1) will take place at 6pm on Sunday next (29th) at home in Connolly Park and our Ballymac neighbours will be the opposition. Good luck, boys! (T.McMahon)

PEIL FAOI 13:
An t-am céanna ag an deireadh seachtaine, a bhuachaillí….next Sunday morning at 11.00am i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. (Jonathan Magnier)

PEIL FAOI 14:
The U14-ers continue their training schedule on Friday evenings and on Sunday mornings (11am) i bPáirc Uí Chonghaile. They’ll certainly be ready for the Central and Town Leagues. (Jonathan Magnier)

TRÁ LÍ FAOI 14:
The 14 ‘Black‘n’Amber’ players on the Tralee District panel: Orán Ó Riagáin (cúl báire; captaen), Liam Ó Ciarba (lár páirce), Tadhg Ó Luasaigh (lár páirce), Oisín Ó hOdhráin (lántosach ar dheis), Conchúr McGuire, Harry Mag Guidhir, Shane Ó Ciardha, Blake Buidhléir, Tadhg Ó Riagáin, Cian Cróinín, Dylan Mac Aodha Bhuí, Rian Ó Tuathaigh, Mícheál Ó Cearmada, Sé Ó hOdhráin. An bhainistíocht: Déaglan Ó Cuill, Maidhc Ó hOdhráin, Brian Ó Ceallacháin. Trá Lí Abú!

TRÁ LÍ FAOI 15:
The very enjoyable and successful 2nd round of the Greater Tralee Area development sessions took place on Saturday morning last in Connolly Park with Rock boys on board. AdeS, K-O’R, Gaeil and Naomh Pádraig players were put through their paces by Kerry GAA coach, Dylan Thornton. Mighty football!

MINOR NEWS:
(i) On Monday next, June 30th, our minors will challenge Killarney Legion in Division 1 of the Keanes SuperValu County League. The game will be played in Doirín, Killarney, at 7pm. A big game for our lads!
(ii) Comhghairdeachas to Wayne Quillinan, Alex Tuohy agus mionúir Chiarraí on their heroic and heart-throbbing 1-19 to 3-10 victory over an outstanding Mayo team. Let’s hope that they’ll do as well v The Red Hand of Ulster in their All-Ireland final next week!

PEIL FAOI 16:
(i) The U16 boys County League got underway on Thursday evening (19th) and we had two teams in action. Our Division 1B team travelled to Finuge and gave an all-round strong performance that enabled us to take the spoils on a scoreline of 6-13 to 2-7. Our Division 9B team was in action out in Scartaglin and, unfortunately, it was a difficult outing as we experienced a heavy loss against a strong home team. A good spirited performance in the 2nd half, however, gave us great encouragement for our upcoming games and we say fair-play to the 12 boys who represented the Black‘n’Amber with pride. It’s unfortunate that, at his time of the year, team selection can be affected by the holiday plans of families but it’s the same for everyone! This week, on Thursday evening, both teams perform at home in Connolly Park. Our Division 1 team wre hosting Castlemaine/Milltown and the Division 9B boys are playing against Na Gaeil. Good luck, boys and mentors!
(ii) Official fixture programme (but changes may take place):
(a) 26th June at 7pm: Team A v Milltown (home); Team B v Na Gaeil (at 7pm at home).
(b) 3rd July: Foireann A v Na Gaeil (as baile); Foireann B v Legion (ag baile).
(c) 10th July: Foireann A – bye; Foireann B v Listowel (as baile).
(d) 17th July: Team A v Firies (ag baile); Team B v Milltown (as baile). A month of action! (Ger Hobbert)

FAOI 21:
Best of luck to our U21 boys in their heroic effort v Bordcheantar Naomh Ciarán in the Ask Acorn U21 county final match in Austin Stack Park on Wednesday (25th). Our U21s who gave their all: Michael Tansley; Seán Óg Brosnan, Colm Browne, Jack Murphy; Ben Murphy, Luke Casey, Gavin Casey; Fionnán Ryan, Daniel Kirby; Cian Dillane, Paddy Lane, Ronan Carroll; Donnacha Sayers, Damien Hogan, Ryan O’Driscoll; Steven Conway, Donncha Horgan, Bobby Byrne, Seán Moynihan, Noah Townsend, Ciarán Kavanagh, Pádraig O’Halloran, Dylan Cunningham, Olivier Lata, James Fisher, Seán Heaslip, Cormac Bastible, Cillian Litchfield, Darragh Moriarty, David Lucid, Thomas Deregee. Bainisteoir: Denis Sayers; Roghnóirí: Richie Conway, Martin Courtney, TJ Hogan, Daniel Bohane, Frankie Murphy, Tim McMahon.

LÁR an tSAMHRAIDH:

CILLIAN & CO:
‘Well done’ to our dual player, Cillian Litchfield, and his outstanding Tralee hurlers v An Tóchar on their great performance in the county championship on Sunday.

CIARRAÍ:
Go n-éirí go geal le Dylan, Joe, Armin and their county colleagues v Ard Mhacha i bPáirc an Chrócaigh ag an deireadh seachtaine seo!

SEANRÁ:
An té nach nglacann comhairle…glacfaidh sé comhrac! The person who doesn’t accept advice…must accept strife! We’ll do/play better if we listen carefully to our coaches’ advice.
