JUVENILE AGM:
A very successful Cruinniú Cinn Bhliana took place at the clubhouse on Tuesday last (21s). A good crowd of enthusiastic mentors and parents attended. Several important topics pertaining to the running of our juvenile section and to the good coaching of our young members were discussed and the juvenile ‘board’ for the coming year was selected. The Rock thunders on!
UNDER 6/7/8 FOOTBALL:
Our junior academy football in Mercy Mounthawk School Hall is going well…TG…but we’d like to welcome some more beginners. Parents, do what’s best for your budding star and bring him along to Mercy Mounthawk on Sunday next (26th). The club’s 3rd outing of ’25 will be held at 10am for the UNDER 6 boys (born 2019/20) and at 11am for the UNDER 8 boys (born 2017/18). Fáilte roimh chách. This is the ‘alpha’ of these boys’ football careers! Only a few short years ago the U6/7/8 panel included Joe O’Connor, Dylan Ó Cathasaigh, Jack Ó Sé, Paddy Lane, Greg Horan, etc, etc. The tiny tots of The Rock are at the starting line! Greatness calls!
UNDER 10 FOOTBALL:
Calling all UNDER 10 boys! Are you all ready for your season’s football action. The U10 Rock Club football fun will begin in The Green CBS HALL on Sunday next (26th) at 11.00am! Let the games begin!
UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
Calling all UNDER 12 boys! Next Sunday January 26th is the day! Venue: The Green ASTRO….that’ll be exciting! We look forward to seeing a big huge turn out of future Rock greats!
PEIL FAOI 16:
A very busy week was had by all with well-attended sessions on Wednesday, on Friday and on Sunday. Good work was done on all aspects of the game, including trying to get our heads around the very new and very challenging football rules. All our boys have been given information on the rules and have been encouraged to digest them so that when competition time comes around every player and mentor will have a good understanding of what to do and what not to do!! Everyone has been attentive and enthusiastic and we look forward to putting words/rules into practice. Cleachtadh a dhéanann máistreacht, a deirtear, agus táimid ar bís chun triail a bhaint as na rialacha nua. By now every player will have received the home training plans; these plans are more or less similar to what has been done at training and, so, gach uile imreoir is encouraged to put aside the time to put in the solo miles at home. Training continues this week on Wednesday, on Friday and on Sunday. And, last week, Connolly Park was in the better of seeing our fine Under 16 footballers treading on it’s green well-kept grass!! Mar sin, a bhuachaillí na Carraige, keep a watch out for group messages. And…we are moving up a gear!
MINOR FOOTBALL:
Our minor lads are warming up for another successful season. Good wishes to them and to their management team of Eoin, Theo, Aindriú agus Risteard. Go n-éirí go geal lenár n-imreoirí Faoi 18 ar ghort na caide! Tús tús maith, leath na hoibre!
PEIL FAOI 19:
Tralee’s two outstanding secondary school football teams played their Munster Championship (Corn Uí Mhuirí) quarter finals on Wednesday 15th. Both teams gave of their best but their fortunes were mixed! Our sympathies to the Tralee CBS boys who were unlucky v Coláiste Naomh Bréanainn. We congratulate the Mercy Mounthawk team (5-23) that defeated Coláiste Naomh Proinsias, Baile an Róistigh (5-6). The Cnoc an tSeabhaic lads will play v Hamilton High, Droichead na Bandan, in the Munster semi-final on Saturday next, January 25th; Coláiste Bhréanainn will play Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, Neidín. The provincial final has been scheduled for February 8th. All Tralee will now shout for the Green‘n’Blacks! The Rock lads: Fionnán Ó Riain, Rónán Ó Cearúill, Ryan O’Drisceoil, Seán Óg Ó Brosnacháin, Donnacha Ó hÓgáin, Olibhéar Lata (Meánscoil na mBráithre Críostaí); James Ó Bradáin, Pádraig Ó hAllmharáin, Gavin Ó Cathasaigh, Daniel Ó Ciarba (1-1), Ben Ó Murchú (2-2), Alex Ó Tuathaigh, Cormac de Bastábla (0-3), Paidí Ó Laighin 2-12 (1-0 pen, 0-4f) (Cnoc an tSeabhaic).
